Subject: smoking

please does anyone know how to do realistic cigarette smoke? as in the whispy stuff? i know you can do it in Lightwave, but I don't have lightwave... any photoshop actions around?

Use a very light grey and "airbrush" it in. I did that for the guy in the background of the picture in the link above. Very fast & easy to do.

i tried airbrushing, but it looks false (especially on the closeup shot i'm designing). this link shows what i am after. if anyone has Rhino etc, fancy knocking up a smoke model?? please :)

Nerd 3D has some cig-like smoke prop and somewhere else too but I can't remember.......???????

There is a campfire in freebies that you can resize, make invisible the logs and fire. I have used it for insense smoke.

I'd be inclined to add it in as postwork with a filter such as Eyecandy's Smoke effect.. Not as complex or visually spectacular no doubt, but in a pinch (or desperate situations) it can make do. =]
