This is the image with the whales in it. See how they are purple? and very dark? I need to figure out a way to light them a little better.Nicholas86 posted Tue, 21 May 2002 at 10:44 PM
The purple is likely coming from the sky. I would say increase the whale textures diffusion and ambient channels...I think I'm saying the right names...boy I'm tired..

You could add a soft light that doesn't cast shadows to shed more light on your whales. How many light souces do you have? Just the moon?

Two solutions. First, try either upping the whales' diffuse and ambient channels (first, set the ambient to use same tex as the diffues, if there is any). Second, you could add a few diffuse lights preferably w/ squared or ranged falloff to the scene by the whales. Either should do fine, but will give you different results. P.S. If you're in Bryce4...you can alt+click-and-drag (pretty sure that's right) in the light preview window to set the radius for the ranged falloff light.Rayraz posted Wed, 22 May 2002 at 2:00 AM
If the ambient color of the sky is purple, than your objects will always tend to turn purple. Instead of changing only the textures of the wales you could also try to change the color of your light on the wales to reduce this purple-effect. If you want the right colour to filter out the purple, than go to your favourite paint-app (like paintshop pro or photoshop) and make an image with the colour you would like light on the wale to have and substract the purple of the sky. This should give you an indication of wich color the light should be. (This can be very tricky and doesn't always work but it's worth a try.)
