Hi all, Haven't been around in QUITE a while, though some may remember me... 8^) I had been struggling with ray Dream on my old system, but now it is (finally) dying. I am in the process of building an Athlon 600mhz system, so now have the capability to use and interest in Carrara. I will most likely be getting it anyway, but I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find reviews of Carrara? If not, what are your personal opinions on the app? TIA. Headgamer

Hi Headgamer! Welcome back. :) Go to www.onelist.com and search for Carrara. This is the home of the Carrara mailing list. There is a bug list available as well as rendered images. It seems OK so far. I havent done any production type work with it yet. Im not use to the new interface but Im sure I will get use to it the more I use it. I can say it renders pretty darn fast. Its kinda like RDS with a new interface and better Lens Flares.. ;) Im sure some others will share thier opinions also. Clint

I've been using it for about a month. I am not overly impressed with it so far. The interface is crowded, and although the textures are better, they are hard to place were you want them. The render lacks that extra unf. I have CINEMA 4D GO and the render kicks butt. Carrara is great for assembeling if it had that drop to floor option found in Bryce and cleaner interface it would be faboo. I liked the modeling room it was fairly clean, and easier to use than Ray Dream. I just want to know why metacreations dosn't make there products more compatable with each other. They have yet another incompatable file format .car

I kinda resented having to learn a new interface to a familiar program. However, now that I'm used to it, I'm loving it. There's a couple of quirks but (at least on my system) stable and fast. Much better assembly and modeling capabilites. Great enhancements in shader control and transparency (once you get used to the new schematic)
