This is great... How'd you do the 20 dollar bill??? Great wood texture too.. :)

Aldaron ( ) posted Tue, 28 May 2002 at 6:04 PM

Great foam and bubbles in the beer, well done. I would imagine the $20 bill is a terrain?

Great image!!! My kinda render heheh, maybe on the foam make it a bit more transparent? Maybe even set the material to fuzzy in the mat lab so the edges soften up a bit, great render though, good job!

Do atleast one thing a day that scares the hell outta ya!!

This would be a great banner for the Virtual Tavern :)

Make some clear bubbles in the beer on the top on and on the sides. Rest looks really cool!

zarth ( ) posted Tue, 28 May 2002 at 10:16 PM

Well done! How did you do the bubbles? spheres in the 'beer'? I've tried something similar and didn't have the same results. Like the lighting and the cigarette glow.

Great render! Love the realism in the scene.

I like the bubbles in the beer. Abit of frostyness/condensation?(Clay already noted the foam.) . . . Exellent!!

Erlik ( ) posted Wed, 29 May 2002 at 5:11 AM

This is great. Could you, beside the foam, make the cigarette filter just a little bit longer? Now you know where my interests lie. :-)

OTST, the smoke should be more transparent, too.

You know if you're gonna smoke you should at least have an ash tray ... "Remember, Only YOU can prevent bar fires!" - Smokey the Drunk

Thanks all, I agree about the foam and smoke ( needs more trans, ) The filter should be longer too. Thought about condensation, but the render time is high already, and I would need to add another ray depth. To answer some questions: The bill is a mesh plane distorted in Amorphium Pro, with a scanned and then edited texmap. Am thinking of redoing it using an older ( more used ) bill, to get rid of the new crisp look. For the beer bubbles, I used a sphere and put the foam material to it ( tweak it a little ) then multi-replicate ten more offsetting on Y. Then multi-replicated the ten with no offset and used the random tool on them ( set to 3D ). Nope no ash trays in this place.... only counters & floors. I do need to add more burn marks, and uv map the texture so I can put a little of the burn on the front side of the board too.

Ya know Stephen? after Intensive Research (Bought and drank 3 pitchers,) I come to believe that yer foam texture wasn't far off afterall. perhaps it's bar lighting which makes peeple think foam has a neat texture. It really doesn't. It's just like you picturesd it only bubblier. - ok the tree floating down the block just stole my cat.. gotta go.

big_hoovie ( ) posted Wed, 05 June 2002 at 5:58 PM

I have a question about the beer. has it been sitting long? based on the amount of bubbles, it would seem that it hasnt, so I would think that to make it more realistic, you would need to have some sort of waves at the top of the beer, to give it more of the "just poured" look. my 2 cents

firefly ( ) posted Thu, 06 June 2002 at 12:03 AM

hmm, when you take another look at the bar and add those needed burn marks, you might also want to add a few slight dent marks.. those 3rd pitchers and mugs when emptied come slamming down pretty hard at times (grin) over the years this does leave a slightly uneven surface that even paste wax can't fill out!!
