Only from people who have used the thing please :) Is it useful? Can the smaller pieces be moved? Can you add multiple new smaller pieces? Is there any interest in new textures for this thihng? If so - what would you like to see? Have you had any problems with shadows and lights? How is it for system resources? Has anyone made new textures for it? I understand the mapping is similar to Nerd's backdrop, how easy is it to texture? Thanks! Lyrra

I've used it a few times--it's reasonably useful, I think; the beach scene looks especially good. You can add or remove "depth" pieces as desired. New textures would be welcome--alien landscapes, cityscapes, desert, you name it, I'd be interested in any free add-on you cared to contribute. I've twiddled with things a bit in Photoshop, just a few modifications of the existing tex--easy enough. No problems w/ shadows/lights so far. Doesn't seem to suck huge ram. Hope this helps.

Well I'd have to buy the thing first. And if I bought it I'd have to justify it by selling textures for it - cause I don't render in poser. Mind you I can probably make some free textures without owning it if I got a beta tester to render for me.

I have it. Yes you can move things around. It is set up so you can pan your camera around a bit. Programs hardly know it's using it. If you check my gallery you will see one that I loaded cyclorama twice, poser didn't care, I only have 128mb. I have used my own backgrounds. For the price it is worth it. Tashar 59

How big do the textures have to be-- I got it, but haven't used it yet. Boought it while the sale was on on the slim chance that someone would ---Pleeese--- make textures for it, cause there's no way those three given would get older than gawd in a day and a half. The only thing daunting me is how big the textures would have to be-- the ones with it are 2000 by a bit more than that. I know, Lyrra, I'm breaking your rule of only those who have used it respond but I thought you should know I would be in the market for new textures. Since I am still too lazy to use Vue D'esprit. And I actually like rendering in Poser. Emily

Sorry Lyrra, I too have never used it. I do render in poser, but at present this thing looks good, but needs some usefule textures/ I would be more inclined to buy it if there were some around, or some indication that you can retex it. In the past this would have been an impulse buy and take a chance, but nowadays every penny counts, so have to pull back on the impulses.

I love it, you can even move the pieces in front of your characters and see through them. I also add other stuffage like rocks and branches and such. It is a really nice quick and easy stage. Marque

Sorry it's so big, my niece asked me to render it so she could use it as her background on her desktop. She also wanted the bunny in there...lol Marque

The trouble with paying for textures in this case is that the Cyclorama itself only cost $10-or-so on sale. Since I generally refuse to pay more for add-ons than the cost of the original figure, they'd have to be damn good textures, there'd have to be a lot of them, and they'd have to be real cheap. It's easy enough to make my own in Bryce & Photoshop, or from pd photographs, or whatever. Which is not to say you shouldn't try marketing some textures; I think a lot of people bought the thing and are waiting for a chance to use it.

I agree Mosca, they would have to be very well done, meaning the transparencies would have to be right on. That's the whole idea of this thing, that it looks 3D when it actually isn't. Marque

Daz tech e-mailed that they were going to make a tutorial on how to use this program and it should be out very soon....Then I have been waiting now since the day it came out.

Marque your pictures are so good with this prop. :O) I guess I should try mine again. Did you add the tree the Gremiln is behind? Better go play with this a little.

No Turtle, just put the Gremlin behind one of the transparent props. In the one with the Desert Elf, I moved one of the bush blocks in front of her to see if you could see her legs and boots through it. Just put your character together and then move the different pieces of the cyclorama around until you get them where you want. All that is in the Gremlin pic is the cyclorama, the gremlin and the lights that come with the cyclorama. It's really a pretty cool product. Marque

Has anyone tried other lights? Emily
Tashar59 posted Wed, 29 May 2002 at 9:52 PM
All the lights I have used work. You get some good shadings. Other colored light give unique fx. Tashar 59
