I am trying to modify the old muscle man bump map but I don't get how in this wierd green that opens in PSP is supposed to be edited. I mean I understand how to create one in grayscale but not here. Anyone know what I am talking about? Thanks in advance

ummmm.... you really can't edit those. they use a red-green coded algorithm for creating the slopes for the bump map. somebody was working on a converter, but i don't know if they ever got anywhere with it.

Vile: If you're on a Mac, you're in luck. MartinC has created a plug-in for GraphicConverter which changes the "green" bump map back into an editable graphic. It's called SpeedBump, and it's pretty great.Unfortunately, I believe there's no such utility yet available for Windows. Boy that's a switch...

a BUM file can be worked on by changing the extention fro bum to .bmp Then bring it into your editing program, conver to greayscale and make your alterations... Then after you are done, change the extention back to .bum and your set. I always make the bum files manually by changing the extention of a bitmap (.bmp) I never let poser make them anymore. Hope this helps.

heyas; well, there was a long discussion on why a greyscale bum-as-bmp isn't accurate. but, it's the best we can do at this time. :) do greyscale bums really work? i know greyscale jpgs make a big mess (in p4.)

I have actually had pretty good luck with greyscale bum maps.. I find the bumps are sharper than the poser converted maps :) Could just be my eyes though! lol
