Greetings, This is an invitation for any and all Poser users living in the greater San Francisco Bay Area to come to my house for a get together on Saturday June 15th, from 1 to 6. I live where the tip of North Oakland wedges between Emeryville and Berkeley and will gladly email directions and a map. If you think you can make it, please let me know. :) hauksdottir@earthlink.net Please note that because of allergies, there is no smoking inside, but we've been having some wonderful weather and the garden is in bloom. After months and years of chatting, it will be wonderful to meet more of you! Carolly

I live a ways away but might take a vacation to SanJose to visit a friend. Maybe the time frame will work, don't know yet. I'd love to meet some of the folks here.

What a lovely idea, but until they invent matter transference for real we can only say have a wondeful time.

Eric, San Jose isn't that far away. If you can make it up for that weekend, I'd be delighted to meet you. Pam, There is a teleporter in my closet, but it is set only for Tuolumne Meadows, and there is no way to rekey it for other bodies or destinations. Pity. But the physicists are working on it! Maybe this will inspire other gatherings of users. Carolly

Jay, Directions, map, and phone number have been emailed to you (more information than I usually give my role-players, who have to find their own way across the Glittering Plain). :) Carolly

hauksdottir, Alas, I live on the "other coast," in Maine. I just got a new job, and won't even have vacation time for months to come. I will be there in spirit! This is a very nice thing you're doing, and I'm sure everyone will have a wonderful time. Ron

Ah, the City by the Bay. I have fond memories of treking up from Palo Alto to visit the fleshpots of Market Street and North Beach. I inventoried calculator chips for Intel when that was all they made and a roommate who worked for Apple got paid in stock because that was all they could afford, That gives you an idea of how long ago this was! Alas, I am now on the third coast (Gulf), so I will just have to say have a glass of Napa Valley vino for me. Is Jerry Brown still mayor of Oakland?

This sounds like fun. If that damn 4 letter word called work doesn't get in the way, you can count me in too. Ed

Carolly, Got the email. See you and everyone else on the 15th! Jay

I'm there! :) What time you want us and do you need me to bring anything (other than hubby, that is)? Kate
hauksdottir posted Mon, 03 June 2002 at 4:02 AM
Ed, I hope that you find time to slide over this way. Email me, and I'll get you a map, just in case work relents. Kate, Directions and a map have been sent your way. Be great to see both of you again. I can't compete with your barbecues (is the Mecco your third or fourth?), so was thinking about summer "grazing food" - meats, cheeses, crackers, salads, etc., and, of course, my brownies and maybe some cookies. I've never made little appetizer whatzits (my skill is more in baked goods), but I might do a chili-cheese quiche if inspired. You are a good cook, so anything that you'd want to bring would be welcome. Hmmm... I should probably mention that the only alcohol around here is a half bottle of Kahlua... so the beer drinkers might want to conspire to see who brings what if that is desired. I'll lay in various sodas. Carolly

Carolly, I just got word from the boss ;), my wife Karen, that we can attend the party for a short window of time. It looks like we can be there from 1 to about 2:30. We have a graduation ceremony at UC Davis that afternoon, but could squeak some time out to drop by and say hello. I hope more folks from the list can attend as well. I'd like to meet everyone possible. I also want to introduce you to Karen, she is Curious Labs' artist relations manager and editor of the Lab Report, in that respect, I'm HER boss. She's a good contact for you here at Curious. Carolly, if you can send me some directions, that would be a great help. Looking forward to seeing you again, and turning some online acquaintances into real world friends. Cheers, Steve "kupa" Cooper President, Curious Labs

HA!! I'M the boss of Kupa. That just strikes me as funny. :) Yes, Carolly, we will be there with bells on and kids in tow. I consider myself a good cook as well, so I'd be happy to bring a dish to share. Just let me know. It will be good to see you again, and meet some other Poser users. Thank you for throwing this party; it's a great idea. Next time we'll have to have a beach bonfire in Santa Cruz... home of the Labs. Kupa is famous for his fires. :D See you soon, Karen

I am too kind to subject all of you to my cooking, but I will be sure to pick up some "summer grazing food" to share. I'd like to meet more people from Renderosity. If you live in the Bay Area, please let Carolly know that you'd like to come. I think it sounds like it will be fun! Jay

Ok, that's it then. I'll bring along my infamous devilled eggs and maybe some horse doovers. ;-) Kate (who needs a new batch of victims...er...subjects to try out recipes on)
hauksdottir posted Tue, 04 June 2002 at 2:02 AM
Thank you. We should have plenty of food, but I've never turned down anyone's specialty. :) I'm incredibly glad that Steve and Karen can slip by for a while. Directions are in your email. It looks like I'll need to update and make a link every 3-4 days because posts get buried so quickly, and not everyone checks in daily. JimX and his wife (Ann?) are interesting people, hmmm... time for some IMing. Carolly

Judith, Well, it looks like some folks in the Gulf area are comparing mileages, so there may be Poser gatherings anywhere there is enough of a nucleus. With recognitions and introductions, the circle grows. :) Carolly

I think my wife and I could make it. Let me know if we can bring anything. Dan dac@dacort.com

Marque posted Thu, 06 June 2002 at 12:17 PM
lol, ok, if I can make it over there I'll bring my appetite, and see if I can get my husbee to make his mexican wedding cake, it is decadent. It being fire season though I might not be able to come. Hope to see you all soon, Marque
hauksdottir posted Thu, 06 June 2002 at 10:42 PM
Marque, We wouldn't throw deviled eggs at you... although you may be caught by a few iridescent bubbles drifting by. Mexican wedding cake? Red, white, and green? Yummmmm... ;) We'll hope that fire season hasn't started yet! Dan, You guys are in this area, too? Wow! ::even wider grin:: Directions are in various mailboxes, and I hope that the "local map" stayed attached to all of them, although once you find Emeryville you are in walking distance. Carolly

Dan (dcort) and I are really looking forward to meeting everybody. It sounds like food is well under control. I make a mean sangria. I bet it would go well with Kate's deviled eggs and horse doovers! :g
hauksdottir posted Fri, 07 June 2002 at 3:48 AM
LOL! Sangria? I'd better not bring out the Twister game, then... although it would be amusing. I'm sure that Skrogg would watch from a very safe place. Carolly
