Hey all.. provided my case comes in by Friday (keep your fingers crossed!), I will be building my Athlon-600 machine this weekend. (Quite a step up from my P-166, don't ya think?!) Anyway, I decided to go with the Athlon instead of a PIII partly because it is cheaper but also because I heard Athlon's were faster. Has anyone rendered or done work with both Athlon's and PIII's? If so, what has been your experience in terms of speed comparison's? No biggie, really... Just curious and trying to waste time so I don't drool too much while waiting.... Next up on the financial docket... Carrara! Woo-hoo! Finally I can use something nice that I don't have to slag through.... 8^) Headgamer

For your board and CPU, I recommend going to www.anandtech.com to see a comparison. Look for the one about profesional graphics.

Bryce benchmarks are hard to find. Bryce 2 is part of SYSMARK 98, so I was able to find some numbers on Anandtech: Time in seconds to render benchmark Bryce 2.0 scene, lower is better: Celeron 500 Mhz: 136.79 PIII 500 Mhz: 132.9 Athlon 500 Mhz: 105.2 Some other Athlon results: Athlon 600 Mhz: 86.7 Athlon 700 Mhz: 76.46 Hope these help.
