Rena, go to Google's image search section. I'll bet you'll find a lot of reference pics there,Google does excellent and usually quick searches. That way, you can get exactly what you need, probably tons of someone that well known. If you don't know about it, it's http://images.google.com

As he is now he looks a little like Robert Mitchum.

Thanks artnik! I WILL! :o) It just has to be a straight front image.. with as less shadows as possible to use for a good reference! :o) bigdog1.. as long as the final version looks like someone dead already ..I guess we're safe! LOL Rena

Whatever you do, save this as an alternate-- I prefer it to the original. Looks like the sheriff in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid-- don't know his name, character actor. And it's almost the spitting image of Harry Dean Stanton from Repo Man and Alien, and Escape from New York. Please, keep it!!! Emily

No problem Emily... he'll be kept! ;o) After all.. that far west town will have to be inhabited by more people than just one sheriff..right? :o) Rena

When the pic appeared the first thing I thought was "Robert Mitchum."

That's ok Rena. Mitchum and Wayne were in the same movie together [El Dorado] at least. ;] Not bad actually. On your first, the profile looks about right, it's the front face that starts to look like Mitchum. You got the profile of the nose, arch of the eyebrows and chin/jawline about right in profile. Very cool. Lower looks like the younger Wayne, closer than I've ever gotten. You managed to capture those expressive eyebrowse just about right. ;] I've been playing with the same thing... maybe if I can dig up my experiments on whatever CD I acrived them too, and we compare notes, we can pool efforts and figure out what we need to capture him? You're right... we need more mouthline, lip, and nose shaping morphs for this at the very least. ;[

Coolness. ;] Good work. Lessee.... left to right: sidekick or town goodguy, deputy sherrif, and town badguy's hired thug. ;] They'll fit all righty.

Actually, if you just made the Duke a bit more wrinkled and weathered looking. Some stubble, more crows feet around the eyes, more grizzled, less smooth skin, etc., he wouldn't be that far off the mark,I think. Maybe you could do that with a text map and a good bump map. Just a few thoughts.
Jackson posted Mon, 10 June 2002 at 10:42 AM
Except for the nose, I think the second pic of the Duke looks like him in his younger acting days.

Looks better :) I always think of him as haveing a little rounder tip to his nose. He also had a little bit of a crook in it that you may have gotten in this version but I am not sure. Think his jaw is a little less pointy as well but he has a little touch of a double chin :) Hoppe that helps and it is looking good.

I think so too. Looks good. There may not be much more you can do on the chin and mouthlines... Mike just doesn't seem to have the right morphs. Eyes and eyebrows are good, and the shape of the nose is close. Wayne's nose is the hardest thing to get close, from my playing with it. Broad and flattened from the front, strong and hawklike from the side profile. Looks like you did good job on it. A bump map and texture can do the rest of the eye wrinkles and cheeklines. Let me see if I can dig up a url or email for Wayne's official site. Might send a finished render in when done with it... his family might enjoy seeing the tribute. ;]

Yes, I think probably a bump map and text might help. The skin still looks too smooth and kind of plasticky(is that a word?).
