Subject: how to fade half.....

HYE,
i want some help....
well i want to know how can i make half picture fade..
i have seen such pictures somewhere and could not understand it i have photoshop v6.0,i have been working on it lately well can anyone tell me how a picture fades gradually (half picture remains same and it gradually fades,there is no zoomblur thing in it as i have noticed)
so please help me out

what do you want it to fade to? a quick and easy way (and NON destructive) would be to use a mask so it would blend in to the underlying image or to the background.

Try this...

step 1. create a new layer (make it the color you want the background to be)

step 2. click on the "layer mask" icon to create a mask

step 3. select the blend tool and change your color to black (anything black will blend into the background)

step 4. drag in the direction you want the fade to be.

This method is non destructive and allows you to experiment more with the fasde without altering your image.

Thanks from me, too! I always went into "quick" mask and did it, but this looks much better!
