in having problems creating a transparacy effect, the part I try to make transparent has a glare on it, what can I do to fix this?

Apply a completely black texture to the parts you want to transmap away.

Make sure the falloff is at 0 I has HUGE issues with that.

Make the reflective colour black and reduce the size of highlight to zero in the materials dialogue box. You'll note in your image that the reflection is the same at the top of the dress as it is at the bottom transparent piece....

I'm going to differ with everybody else. The key things to do are: Set the highlight colour to black. Set transmax to 100% and falloff to zero. If you do those three things, that should take care of it.

Ajax, that will also remove all the desired highlights. If you want both highlights and transparency, the only way to do it is apply a totally black texture to the parts that get transmapped away. That way the visible parts of the clothing item will still have nice highlights.

I didn't think of that, Eowyn. That's a very good point. I stand corrected. I assume you also select "Apply texture to highlight"?

Actually, I've never done anything to that lil checkbox... it seems to be checked by default, I've never touched it... LOL
