Ok,Heyas agian:) I belive the best place to start is at The beging, usualy I get an idea from an image of an insect or animal while I'm surfing the web or while looking at a magizine, preferably National geo greograhic.Take this one for example ,This is the one that gave me th idea for Drucila and I had a lot of fun with it, besides I've always been fascinated with butterflies.

Afte Ive found an image I'll either save it to my desktop or star a new folder.open it in photo shop and build a color scheme from the image. What I mean by a color sheme is to build a palet with a specific amount colors usualy 7 to 8 ranging from dark to light because that will be the orderin which I layer the colors, one on top of another.
Ecstasy posted Wed, 19 June 2002 at 7:53 AM
After I've built my pallet,I'll save it as "color scheme" to the new folder or the desk top. After I've done this,I will quit the photoshop app,and go to poser and load Vicky and "export" her to the new folder as an ".obj" file Usualy named Untitled.obj. your going to use The new"Untitled.obj " to create a template for your new texture. You will need to have UVmapper from the free stuff yhere at rosity or go to the rabbit hole website and get it.Dont worry, its free , a big plus to me!:)After you have the Uvmapper,Load the new .obj file into Uvmapper. And you should end up with something like the image above.

Now this is the kind of summer school I'll enjoy ;-)
Ecstasy posted Wed, 19 June 2002 at 9:52 PM
After you have your templates open your pallet and your image in what ever format you saved them in photoshop.Create a new layer and use the pait bucket to fill it with the darkest color of your palet. After doing this reduce the opacity to where you can comfortably see the template and still airbrush and see what your doing on the new level about 90% opacity is good for me.

New layer opacity set
Ecstasy posted Wed, 19 June 2002 at 10:02 PM
2.Select the paint bucket next,Fill the new layer with the darkest color you've selected.Make sure now that you've filled the new layer with the darkest color and not the background image ,because your going to set the new layer's opacity to around 90% or 95% just enough to where you can see the template,4.After you've done this you will need to start painting your base tones Its best to work from dark to light building layers of color with the airbrush tool gradualy lightning each hue and select a smaller brush size as I go.5.Im only going to do half of the head and then copy the half I do and paste it and flip it horizontaly.

building to the high lights
Ecstasy posted Wed, 19 June 2002 at 10:14 PM
its kind of like buildin a gradiant.rember to mind the bends in the template.thats wher your poser figure builds its lights and darks.
Ecstasy posted Wed, 19 June 2002 at 10:18 PM
now on to doing minor details.its best to have an image of whatever your air brushing so you can use it for visual refference.I'll give an example after this image.
Ecstasy posted Thu, 20 June 2002 at 5:49 PM
Now its just teadous work laying down Highlights and minor details.Rember you only have to do one side of the head and the rest of the texturing because you can just copy what you have and paste and blend. For another example,You can do just one ear and copy and past it and blend whats not fitting but try to get it as close as perfect as you can.I'll load some more images for you to see how this is done....

Details details details,I've created a lip brush to give this effect.
Ecstasy posted Thu, 20 June 2002 at 6:17 PM
After youve done your detail work, you should end up with something like this....
Ecstasy posted Thu, 20 June 2002 at 6:23 PM
When you've become satisfied with the side of the face you've done, select the background picture in your layers section and hide the first layer.Use the marque wand to select the white that isnt part of the model and invert it.usethe square marque in minus mode to deselect the part of the template you didnt work on.
Ecstasy posted Thu, 20 June 2002 at 6:25 PM
Go right down the middle of the template section you worked in and away from the part you painted.
Ecstasy posted Thu, 20 June 2002 at 6:28 PM
after youve done this cop and paste the selection on the first layer not the background and paste.you should end up with this....
Ecstasy posted Thu, 20 June 2002 at 6:31 PM
After you' got this far your going to flip the new layer and hide the 1st layer so just the template and 2nd layer show your going to want to move the new layer in line with the middle line,if this is vauge i'll show....In examples following....
Ecstasy posted Thu, 20 June 2002 at 6:33 PM

Rember to save your Finnished texture in a jpeg format :high quality ,so all your details show up.Then create a new folder in your runtime folder and call it what ever you like,But I suuggest calling it my textures.
hauksdottir posted Thu, 20 June 2002 at 7:21 PM
Ecstacy, Many thanks! And by posting it here, you'll probably reach more people. The majority might not be able to make their own textures, even with such step-by-step breakdowns of your technique, but they might gain more of an appreciation for how texturing is done, and how much time it takes to get it right. This is a wonderfully detailed tut. My only wish is that it was easy to print out. ~G~ I'll book mark this though. Thanks soo much. Somethings I went..duh... why of course, Why didn't I think of that. I've tried many times to make a half decent texture. So far nothing worth seeing. maybe now I'll have better luck.
igohigh posted Fri, 21 June 2002 at 1:53 PM
WOW! Thank you so much Ecstasy, this is just the type of tut I've been needing! Now maybe I can give my Tablet it spin or two! You are so awsome to take your time to share this (and the wonderful textures you've posted in the past). THANK YOU!!
