I have been playing around with True Ambience at 256 rays. I really like how True Ambience looks on Poser people, but I would still like to get some good shadows/lighting effects going. I tried adding some lights, but it really washes out the character. If I make the lights very small (5 or so) then the effect is barely noticeable. I have seen some sample images in this forum with True Ambience AND shadows.. what am I missing? I have no atmosphere/sun on whatsoever. Thanks in advance. ;)

Never waited around for Bryce to do any of that in version 5, you could use an ambient light dome, this gives the impression of radiosity and soft shadows - render times are obviously increased, but its the most effective method i have seen to get this effect in Bryce. i used it in a pic in my gallery - Hobby Models.

Thanks for the info.. I finally figured it out. ;) When my render is finished (a week from now, I would imagine) I will post my results. ;)

I also posted in the Poser forum about this. I saved renders from Poser and interim renders from Poser so that I can do a tutorial. Saved all my scene files as well so I can do screenshots of my texture settings, lights and light settings, etc. I am really happy with how it came out, but others might say "ugh!" However, the technique is sound, even if my particular use of it may not be inspired. =)

Here's a tut that Necati made for simulating radiosity in Bryce. I think he even has a light dome that you can download. Steve S.
