eeeww... just looked at this post again, and the colors on that pic just stink... I must've compressed the jpeg a bit too much. The original looked much better, honest. :::making a mental note for future reference:::

I've noticed changes in colour from my posted images in the last couple of contests as well. The JPEG's look OK on my machine (a Windows box) but are darker with less contrast when viewed from the web. Anybody know why is it so? Is it a Mac/Windows issue? PS Nice model!

Very cool. I like it. Could use a clock like that over my fireplace.

I love the fact that it's from the world famous "Boolean" clockmaker. Is that a Swiss make? I bet it's a major pain to keep fingerprints off the pinkish metal surface.... :o) Nicely done; I love how simple shapes can come together to create complex objects. I'm really impressed with the clock face; very nicely done. I'd guess that the base is a free-form object? (I think Carrara calls it a spline object?) You might increase the surface fidelity on it; I see some angular edges on the left and right sides, where we see the curved shape edge-on. Increasing the surface fidelity should reduce or remove that effect. As for color shifts; I've come to realize that lots of my pics change from computer to computer. The biggest thing I've had to adjust for is the contrast difference between a CRT display and an LCD display. And the differences between LCD's can be staggering, too. My Sony VAIO laptop is really similar to the CRT on my work desktop machine, but the LCD on the Compaq Armada I used to have at my previous job vastly more contrasty than the typical CRT. It's just a matter of getting used to things.

thanks Az, The base is actually a vertex object. I tried to make it spline object but ,for some reason I haven't figured out yet, I couldn't get my cross-section to extrude in a plain 2D rectangle. Things always kept getting warped out of shape, even though I thought I had all the settings right (pipeline extrusion method, symetrical in plane, etc.) So I ended up doing it in the vertex modeller and sweeping my shape along a rectanular path. You're right, I should've increased the surface fidelity on it from the beginning. I've tried subdividing it in the vertex modeller, with some rather odd results. I'll admit, I still have a lot to learn about the VM. Am working on re-making the base object from scratch to fix that problem you noticed, since I can't figure out any other way to do it. As for the colors.. that second post of mine was from the computer I use at work. It seems that the problem I was complaining about was just the crappy video card in that machine. Got back home, and it looks just fine. (both are Windows PC's) and, yeah, I was chuckling like a mad-man when I put that 'Boolean' in there... simple pleasures for simple minds. :o)
