I have been pretty busy, so I haven't been able to visit the forum as much as I would like, but I always try to get a walk in with the family on my days off...saw this old Caltex fuel thing in a field and it sort of stood out a bit. I did a bit of postwork in photoshop and de-colourised it. :-)>

Is it because of the postwork that it seems that this photo is shot with a fill-flash..? Anyway, a beautiful b/w picture, this is... :-)

Beautiful... I've always loved these "rusty landmarks". This is a pic that really benefits from the B&W treatment (lots of structure). However can I ask you a favour ? I'm a keen Rhino 3D modeler, and i'd really like to model this fuel tank (thingy); could you post the original colour version (if possible with some cropped out detailed bits) ? How big is this thing anyway (just to get some idea of proportions).

I'm not sure if you just have a knack for finding these wonderful things or you just take the best shots!! Either way I love it ; )

Thanks everyone...lol Jack, I *do* have a way with words don't I!! Peter, i'll post a colour version but I'm not sure what you mean by cropped out detail bits...which bits? I can send you the original "bigger" pic as it came out of the camera if you want... Oh, and the *thingy* stood about 4 meters tall (or approx 12 feet) :-)>

Thanx a million, PC !!! Nice modeling challenge... I needed this pic to get a feel for the different textures. I'll post my final rendering here.

Damn nice pic again Punkie. Yep, you know us, we are suckers for rust. One minor thing that came to my mind, is the object bit too centered? This is really good, but space to the left and bit less space to the right would make this bit more dynamic. .n
