Chris, just go out and buy Vue... If this is your first experience using 3D programs, you're going to be happy right out of the box... :)

Well mate I own both so I am in a good position to compare them. I used to use Bryce a lot but now I almost always use Vue.Vue's layout is better, its faster to use by a long long way. The renderer is faster, The atmospherics are far better. The material editor is easier to use and understand. The vegetation looks better although is more limited in my opinion than the Bryce tree lab, although Bryce only does trees and Vue does a range of plants also. The sun looks real Bryce's does not. One thing that I think Bryce does better is erode terrains. Vue can tend towards the dreaded Jellymould effect if you are not carefull.A bit of practice eliminates this though.Bryce seems to produce slightly better water in my opinion but this is a minor gripe....as you can tell Vue is the one I use and Bryce is gathering dust

I have used Bryce ever since the version 2 and a month ago or so, i decided to try the Demo of Vue and I felt in love with it straith away, its much easer to use and the results are much superior than Bryce, but hey, the decision is your. Try both demos and see which one you feel more confortible with. For me Vue Rocks, VirtualPhantom

I can also speak from the point of view of one who has Vue 3 and 4 and Bryce 4. I personally prefer Vue over Bryce (I didn't like Bryce 5) for the ease, speed, and interface, not to mention the "Solid Growth" deal with the veggies. Lots of other reasons, too. Cool stuff. But again, it's always best for one to decide for oneself, and both programs have good demos available for download.
