Hello :) I've read that the Walk Designer in P4 is such a wonderful tool. However, whenever I use it the knees "buckle in" at various points of the walk. This is true even if all of the dials are set to 0. Are there any tutorials around on using the walk designer? Or can someone offer a few tips? Thanks!! Brian

it could be the IK settings on the legs that's causing it, click on figure go to "use inverse kinetics" and uncheck the legs, then try the walk designer again, should fix it. Rob

I tried doing that hoping that was the problem. It softened it but did not totally remove the problem. :( I also loaded the specific model into the walk designer and tried that. Could it possibly have something to do with the length of the walk path vs. the number of frames? Brian

same thing happens to me,it really is frustrating.you can lengthen the stride to get rid of it mostly, but it still comes out in a couple of frames.let me know what you find out.

I've tried different lengths on the path and still the same, walk designer's not loading for me today so I can't play about see if I can get to the bottom of it. Rob

I had this same problem a while ago, then I thought I read on the boards here that the Walk Designer doesn't work correctly with the Millennium Gang. It's only for the native P4 characters. Are you using Vickie or Mike? Keep in mind I could be wrong about this but I'm pretty sure that's what I read. Anyone have any insight into this?

from what ive heard, nuffin can be done about that little "glitch" in the step. its a problem that has no walkaround. the best way is to modify the animation by the frames when you get w/i "range" of the glitch. its a problem w/ all poser figures, not just mike and vicki......

I submitted this question to Curious Labs' tech support department. I got a very quick response: "Hello there, yes I know this issue fairly well. First off, the assumption that the walk designer will work on every figure, without the need for tweaking, is the norm. Unfortunately it is not true. The walk designer does 90+% of the work but its obviously not perfect. A lot of the knee wobble is usually caused because the y-trans of the hip is too low. Raising the hip across all frames will stretch the legs out removing most of the wobbling. Using the graph editor, select all necessary frames of the hip y-trans, ctrl + click and drag up till the legs straighten out enough." I can't wait to give this a try :)

did you ask the guy if they will fix that in poser 5,if in fact there will be one.

Yeah the info I read somewhere said if the xyz's are too straight the program won't know which way to bend the legs and so the wobble occurs. I haven't had time to try it yet, but it sounds reasonable . . .

now that tip sounds interesting....... (im amazed you got a quick response..... ive written them numerous times and have NEVER gotten a reply......)

atom: that was a crossthread. I wasn't replying to dalebobn. I can't remember where I read that, but I know I did. amazing how those crossthreads seemed to fit together though. brian: did it work?

Ok, yes this does work! The message was a little on the brief side, so here goes: 1. Use the walk designer to create the walk for your character normally. 2. Select the character's HIP 3. Open the graph editor 4. Select yTran from the drop down box 5. Scroll to the first key frame where the legs wobble 6. Drag the yTran up just a bit 7. Repeat 5 & 6 for the remaining key frames with leg wobble Thanks, Brian Wheatley

Good! Glad it works.
