Hi all I am just about to get Vue (waiting for the delivery) and I'm very keen on doing some animations, however, like with most of these things, it's a little unclear just what Vue can do with animation. If I create an animation of somebody running along a walkpath in Poser, can this imported/used in Vue or can Vue itself do that sort of animation? Appreciate any advice. best wishes Jody

heya; vue cant import poser files, so no, you can't do a walk cycle in poser then use it in vue. (ray dream imports poser animations, so i expect carrera does, as well.) you can hand-animate the poser figure in vue by adjusting the rotation points of the body parts and moving them, however this won't turn out as smooth as poser, because (if i'm not mistaken) vue doesnt keep the seams welded together. vue does animation paths, and it has a variety of motion types you can apply automatically to your object. not complex motions such as walking, but motion styles such as 'car' which rides along the ground and 'plane' which flies at a constant level above the terrain and banks when turning. they also do collision detection and change their path to avoid hitting things in your scene.

try animating the background in vue and export it to an AVI. Then import the avi into poser, match up the lighting, and animate the figure. The only problem is, you don't get shadows on the ground, so either use alot of ambient light, or position the camera such that the feet are not showing (and hence, the shadows below). You can also experiment with a mostly transparent ground plane in poser. This will recieve shadows. If you position and size it properly, you may not notice where the plane edges are. try 90-98% transparency
