Poser Python Scripting F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Sep 18 2:50 am)

We now have a ProPack Section in the Poser FreeStuff.
Check out the new Poser Python Wish List thread. If you have an idea for a script, jot it down and maybe someone can write it. If you're looking to write a script, check out this thread for useful suggestions.

Also, check out the official Python site for interpreters, sample code, applications, cool links and debuggers. This is THE central site for Python.

You can now attach text files to your posts to pass around scripts. Just attach the script as a txt file like you would a jpg or gif. Since the forum will use a random name for the file in the link, you should give instructions on what the file name should be and where to install it. Its a good idea to usually put that info right in the script file as well.

Subject: Could I do this with python?

Hi guys - I got Propack about a month ago, but I haven' yet delved into the mysteries of python... But I just had an idea, and wondered if python could do it. I have a couple of custom characters based on Victoria. Not morphed, but rescaled. Overall body at 98%, arms reduced on the x scale, legs reduced on the y scale, that sort of thing. Clothing them is a pain, as you can imagine - Tailor is useless for the purpose, because it can't handle re-scaling. If I learn some python, could I create a script with the re-scaling factors written in, then run it on a piece of clothing to produce the changes? (Sorry if this is a totally dumb question!) John

Yes, you can do that in PoserPython. As a matter of fact, I have a freebie script on my site that lets you select a group of actors and scale them all at the same time. My site's at the attached link. 'Scaler' is in the freebie scripts area along with some others you might find useful.

Thanks, Bushi. At the moment I know nothing more than this: Python is a programing language that lets you do extra 'stuff' with Poser! I don't even know what the extra 'stuff' is, yet. But I intend to learn. (s) I'll check out your site. Thanks again! JOhn
