I've been working (on and off) on this piece for quite some time. I did it as a practice for painting glass. It's all done in Photoshop with enough layers to choke a horse (or crash a system, which it DID on a number of occasions!).

I KNOW some of you "render warriors" could have done it in Poser or Bryce in 20min (including the render time!), but i don't have any 3D apps, and if not for PS i'd be left with just my pen and pencil. Normally i post to the 2D forum but i wanted to show what could be done with PS and alittle (alright ALOT) time and patience!

This is way cool & inspiring!! You got the glass effect really well & it also has a beautiful abstract quality, it would be great if you could post it in 2D too ; )

Sorry for the file size to everyone with dialup...

Here is a screencap of my workarea in PS for this piece.

Man, if it wasn't for creating "layer sets" it would have been a mess!!! I had at least a dozen "sets" just for the bubbles. A lot of "blend modes" were needed for the bubbles to seem reflective. I merged a whole lot of layers as it progressed and got the hand kinda' right --at a larger size it seemed off but if you reduce your view every once-in-awhile you get the idea of how it'll look (this is a trick you use when working on large pieces like murals...).

I find if i work large and then reduce in size i can get "tighter" resolution/detail.

See ya' around

Excellent result! Cool looking image that I seriously doubt could be replicated quite as strikingly (for want of a better word), in a 3d app. Great example of patience and talent retrocity! :-)>
