I downloaded a freestuff model, and it proved to be a PPP model. But I haven't got PPP. Its texture maps are all as .PSD files, which I can't read. When I looked at one of them with a text editor, I found this text in it near its start:- Copyright (c) 1998 Hewlett-Packard Company and Reference Viewing Condition in IEC61966-2.1 and http://www.iec.ch so .PSD is likeliest not a PPP or Curious Labs special format but an ordinary graphic format that many people use. I went to http://www.iec.ch but found nothing relevant there. Please what programs can read or display .PSD graphic images?

.PSD are image file created by Photoshop

Photoshop .psd files can also be read and saved by Paint Shop Pro. I don't think that The GIMP (a freeware image editor) has full support yet.

Anthony- PSD is a photoshop file. I use these all the time in Poser 4.03, don't know why it isn't working for you. You might want to download irfanview (which is free for personal use), which views most anything, and convert it to jpg or whatever. Regards- LemurtekLemurtek posted Tue, 02 July 2002 at 11:34 PM

is there such a thing as a PPP model? wouldnt the model work without the pro pack also? i'd be willing to convert the psd files to jpeg for you, i just need to know where you got them and you should get the artists permission. Since it was free stuff Ill just grab it myself and then send the jpg

PPP (as far as I know) did not change the actual file formats, although it handles bump maps files diffewrent. When you save out a Cr2 or Pz3 from PPP, you'll get a version header 4.2, which will cause Poser 4.03 or earlier to complain, but all the files I've tried loaded in fine. I wonder if this is a Quicktime issue. I seem to recall if you don't have QT install, you lack certain filetype options. I have Qt installed and can load psd just fine. Regards- Lemurtek

To Lemurtek: I went to http://www.irfanview.com , but both versions of the Irfanview download ( http://www.irfanview.com/deutsch.htm and http://www.irfanview.com/english.htm ) were 404. Also, on http://www.irfanview.com/ 's home page some of the embedded graphics were 404.

I don't know whether my Poser 4.0.3 reads .PSD format. The query arose when I re-texturemapped the model and then thus I needed to remake the texture maps to match.

Try Tucows, they have several European/United Kingdom mirrors. Regards- LemurtekAnthony Appleyard posted Wed, 03 July 2002 at 4:41 AM

I've never heard of Poser Pro Pack using PSD files for textures or anything like that.

I can load a psd in poser ppp and it works, Just added weight though. Jpeg is lighter for the system. By giving the psd though, you allow the recipiant to convert to the level jpeg they want and offer the opportunity to make adjustments from a non compressed state.

Psd works in both Poser 4.03 and Pro Pak. It's great for texture creators who use several layers to create there stuff. Textures can be edited on the fly using layered psd's. Plus you can view and use psd files in Paint Shop Pro.
