Has anyone else noticed how the material editor slows to a crawl after about 50 materials are used in a scene?
This is one frustration I think should be fixed as soon as possible.
I can barely type in a material name in the material editor.

I'm not sure this is due to the number of materials used. Before answering you I have loaded a heavy plant from Tucan with only one material applied to the entire plant (a bitmap). I have then multiplicated the plant 7 times, have created a sphere and applied the same bitmap. Then I have double-clicked for the sphere in the material window to open the material editor, have changed the material to procedural, with some "special effects". This already slowed down the editor extremely. That's why I think this is a polygon problem, but I'm not sure either. Guitta

Don't no about that, but they should update the list of International Distributors :-(((

I was frustrated because the same thing happened to me on my last project.
I just tested my scene by reducing the total textures used to six, and the response is normal with no slow-down.

Well, I dont think that number of materials has something to do with speed of Vue. Im working on a scene with 126 (!!!)materials and Vue is stable and fast ( OK, as fast as possible on Duron 900 LOL).
Anyway, I think, it depends of type of materials, because in the beginning, materials were only basic with different colors, but now, when I changed about 60 mats to glass, speed goes extremely down.
