Subject: Boot heels underground problem

Thank you to those who offered advice on getting the boots to stop flying around randomly after the patch. :) Now, how do I stop this? I got a morph target from someone that supposed to reshape the foot to prevent this but I don't seem to get any results with it. Of course the morph target was for a set of 6 inch heels. Is the only fix to simply be very careful in posing?

Did you try the "drop to floor" command? It will raise the heels up to the level of the floor. I've only seen this happen if IK is on and you try to lower the figure by the hip. -JH.

I usually grab 'em by the hip and pull up. The heels usually straighten right up and will stay there during subsequent maneuverings. No real need to fuss with dials unless you have a special look in mind.

Yeah IK is on for the base figure, not the boots. But the boots are conformed to the base figure. I achieved this effect by dropping the figure down via pulling from the hips. It tries to make sure both the ball and heel of the foot are touching the ground then bends the knees and so on in order to keep those items from going underground. Of course that results in the boots going under.

Posing in heels is workable. Getting posette to walk in heels is a major dificulty. I think its because the IK is linked to the foot and not the toes so that the foot must always be the body part to connect with the ground in a walk cycle. As far as the high heeled morphs you mention go, Jim Burton who made those morphs for high heels explained them to me as follows: "The high-heel morph just increases the arch of the foot, so the shoes fit better. I've done a couple of walking animations, what I did was run it through walk designer, then delete all the animation key frames for the toes, and point them up in the first fram, then I deleted all but every third key fram for the feet, and set the angle properly for the walk in heels- do this for frame 1, 4, 7 and so on, Poser will do the in-betweens if you delete what is there when you start." I just bend the foot of the figure, not the boot and it turns out fine. I have noticed that it happens sometimes with some shoes too. The problem is how the boot conforms to the figure I think. For example the boot doesn't always completely covers the foot. Part of the foot or the toes stick out, at first. Also, the boot is slightly twisted or offset from the foot. So I hide the foot and toes, and then use the figure's foot movement to pose the boot and it works great. I don't know about animations though, never tried that.
