Hello, Please excuse my ignorance if this has been talked about before but how do I change the .jpgs into .bum(s) in PSP. I realize this may sound crazy but I just dislike searching for the .jpgs to place in the bump file section of the texture program for Poser and would rather replace the format in one felt swoop in PSP or PS. Thank you in adavance. Warm Regards, Nancy Deer With Horns (SophiaDeer) Yes this is my real & legal last name, lol. I got a few messages from people asking me. My hubby is Lakota Sioux, born and raised on the Cheyenne River Sioux rez in South Dakota.

Convert them to Windows.bmp and rename the .bmp extension to .bum in windows explorer(PC).

IF YOU HAVE POSER PRO PACK YOU ACTUALLY CAN'T CHANGE THE .JPG TO .BUM. YOU NEED TO OPEN THE .CR2 (IF YOU ARE WORKING WITH A FIGURE) IN A TEXT EDITOR AN EXECUTE THE FUNION FIND .BUM AND REPLACE ALL OF THEM FOR .JPG( ONLY ON THE LINE THAT SAY BUMP_MAP). IF YOU HAVE NORMAL POSER THEN YOU NEED TO OPEN THE "RENDER MATERIALS" SUBMENU AND SELECT THE BUMP MAP INDIVIDUALLY, POSER WILL CONVERT .JPG TO BUM. CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG...........( SEMI-NEWBIE ) (~_~)

Watch out with .bum files converted to .bmp. they don't really give you what you want. .bum files use colors to determin if a surface is raising or lowering. Jpg bump maps give a height based on color. if you use a .bum converted to a .bmp as a bump map, the program will be expecting a height map, but the color will actually be off the detail (since in the detail the surface is not raising or lowering. the end result is that all your bump action will appear to be slightly out of position, and sometimes going in the wrong direction

Thank you very much. It looks like I have my work cut out for me. I have the Pro Pack but with some older textures I have purchased it may ask for me to search for a .bum file and I just thought it would be easier to convert the .jpg to a .bum for that particular texture. Many thanks again. Nancy

Yes Poser bum format is normally an odd shade of green-yellow, but I've had no problems converting black & white bump maps this way.

I hate it when folks pull their message and I have to figure out the question based on the answer. Most of the time I know the answer, its 42, but the question really is troublesome.
