I finally completed the helmet. Just in time for my son's birthday last Sunday. So I am giving away the helmet as an online party favor since the cake is all gone :)

Cheers!

FYI - The file is just the prop with no textures. This image was rendered in Bryce using Bryce materials.

You guys can all be Sparticus if you want. I'm going to hang out with my buddy, General Maximus Desimus Meridias. Well done by the way. Oh, and the movie Gladiator is worth owning.

someone round here like Monty Python too :) Always look on the bright side of life. Always look on the light side of life. If life seems jolly rotten, There's something you've forgotten, And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing. When you're feeling in the dumps, Don't be silly chumps. Just purse your lips and whistle. That's the thing. And... Always look on the bright side of life. Always look on the right side of life, For life is quite absurd And death's the final word. You must always face the curtain with a bow. Forget about your sin. Give the audience a grin. Enjoy it. It's your last chance, anyhow. So,... Always look on the bright side of death, Just before you draw your terminal breath. Life's a piece of shit, When you look at it. Life's a laugh and death's a joke. It's true. You'll see it's all a show. Keep 'em laughing as you go. Just remember that the last laugh is on you. And... Always look on the bright side of life.

True, the points aren't exactly functional (unless you head-butt someone). But in the Colosseum, nu-be, it's all about style. Much like today's World Wrestling Federation.

Thank you so much! Looks great! :-) Dave :-)

the3dwizard posted Wed, 17 July 2002 at 12:01 PM

Glad you like it and everyone knows Kirk Douglas is Spartacus! nu-be, since when has clothing, etc. around here been functional? ;) Speaking of function, style and wrestling I always liked the shoulder pads of Hawk and Animal, The Road Warriors. I might have to do a set of those. Talk about spikes! BTW these spikes can be set to transparent.

MONTY PYTHON RULES! :oD

scifiguy posted Wed, 17 July 2002 at 2:54 PM

It really turned out great...thank you! As for the spikes, yeah they probably wouldn't have been a practical thing in real life, but as far as "impractical armor" and poser goes this helmet is hardly at the top of the list ;)

hah! well, i'm spartacus' MOM! now you all get those things out of your noses; you don't know where they've been! and stop poking each other with those pointy things on your heads; you'll put someones eye out! and everybody say 'thank you, mr. 3dwizard'! thanks, 3dw :)
