If you had to do it all again, knowing what you know now about both programs, would you buy Vue instead of Bryce for sure or would you buy Bryce?

Wouldn't it be wonderfull if you could combine the best of both worlds. Tempest

I'd still use Bryce. Something bothers me about the way Vue renders. It does some nice things, but it looks funny to me on landscapes.

Vue normally looks kinda flat and washed out but it has an awesome library of trees ... That is the extent of my knowledge though both might have demos ... I cant use Vue but it might be good to check the demos ..

There is a Vue demo which I downloaded but after using Bryce for almost a year, it was not really intuitive for me. Bryce also has a demo because that is how I started with it--the Bryce 4 demo. I think I might still buy Bryce because there is so much 'depth' to Bryce--so many things I haven't even touched-primarily in textures. Diane B

Vue always seems grainy to me. There are many sources for plant downloads for Bryce as well as programs specifically designed to make your own. L-system is very cool. There are others. I am not convinced to buy Vue. Anvil.

A.--what is L-system?--and where would one find it? Diane B

Here. http://www.thinkpiece.com/thinkpieceDT1.asp?iNode=19&pageMode=displayNode never had a problem with this. Sometimes it will ask you if you really want to generate such a large model. I've never had it say I can't. Have fun.

Here is an example of a L-System generated tree in Bryce. http://www.internettrash.com/users/anvilhead/g8.html Could have done a much better job with this of course. Just wanted to show what it can do. You can affect the formulas by changing numbers here and there and generate something different and original quite easily. This is a default file that comes with. A fairly large one. There are many different shapes, types and sizes. It is freeware. I opened the formula, told it to go, exported as dxf model, imported into Bryce, smoothed,(time consuming),ungrouped the two objects, textured them, (all 60,000+ polygons worth) then rendered. About 12 minutes@ 800x600. Hope I haven't strayed to far from the topic. I still vote Bryce.

I'd still go for Bryce, but Vue has some potential, maybe in a later version
