Hello,

Again I apologize if this topic was discussed before but I am having a problem with props and ask for help please.

This is very basic. I have some jewelry props that when I add them they, for example, go to the right wrist but I wish the bracelet to go on the left wrist.

I think it has something to do with changing the parent and I fiddled with it for an hour or two but was unable to get the bracelet to go on the other wrist.

May someone please explain to me how to change the wrist the prop goes on or direct me to a tutorial on this?

Again I apologize if this has been discussed before...I am old and still relatively new to poser.

The easiest way to do that is to load up as you normaly do. get your figure in, and load the prop. Now, as you already know it is going to go to it's parented location. Then select that item and double click it. you will get a pop up with it's properties. select the set parent button, and select universe, then ok. This will let the normal XYZ translations work again. Then move the prop to the new location, say the left wrist. I use my dials all the time to get this done. Once it is in the spot you like and scaled ti the best fit you like, then select the part of the figure that the item rests on. You'll see in the corner of the poser doc the figure and the part are showing (figure 1 left forarm) then select the prop and double click it. Then select set parent and then roll down the list until you see the part the prop is on (left forarm) select that and it shoudl highlight, then click ok. Then click ok on the properties box. and presto! the prop is now a parented to the left forarm, you may need to re-adjust the prop once it parents. Just remember that all XYZ translations are from the arm in it's default 0 degree pose. From there if you decide to save it in your library, just give it a new name and select yes when it asks if you want it to be a smart prop.

Nancy, If you know how to make MAT files, you can make placement files for every position the prop would go to. All you need to do is keep the channels info from the cr2 for the dials you actually used to position the prop. mac

An addendum to Lalversons comments.
To make posing the prop easier you could try this, Ill assume the prop is parented to the right hand, and you want to change it to the left hand:

1. Load a character, set all its body and hip rotations and translations to zero (using Restore Figure from the Edit menu will usually do this, but not always, so check).
2. Make sure the pose is left right symmetrical (use symmetry functions from Figure menu if necessary).
3. Load the smart prop, change its parent to the UNIVERSE.
4. Take down a note of all rotation values for the prop, and the value for its x translation.
5. Now translate the prop to the left hand. You can just enter the value by clicking on the dial, if the value you noted down was 0.332, then the new value will be 0.332
6. The same applies to the rotations, any that you need to change will be the inverse of the ones you noted down (you should only need to change two at most, probably Y and Z).
7. Finally when you have set all the rotations, set the parent to Left Hand, and resave the prop.
