Hey, I really need a way to make convincing steam for one of my Poser images. I mean steam like steam that comes from a shower and not from a train :). Does anyone know how I can make steam or if I can get a steam prop somewhere?

hmm... I'd think your best bet would be alittle post work for this one.. or maybe try nerd3d's volumetric fog tool (available in marketplace).. you might be able to edit that to your needs?

Hi Cybrbeast,Yep, Dolphin's advice is sound! You can do this in postwork or with nerd's excellent volumetric fog tool. Also My FX Pak 2 includes an effect called "Creepy Mist", it can be resized and moved to suit all kinds of situations.
The image above shows the finished effect after rendering.

Thanks, I'll first try doing some postwork, although I've almost never done any postwork for my (bryce) images. But I think I should get some experience especially if I want to use Poser a lot. And then maybe I'll buy a fog thing for poser, but I like free stuff better :)

No prob! Happy rendering! :-) Dave :-)

Yeah I thought of importing the poser stuff into bryce and then adding fog but that's much more work, and you can't do minor tweaks to the pose in Bryce, and Bryce renders like really slow especially with those volumetric textures. So I'd rather find an effective way of doing it in Poser.

cybrbeast: If you wanna try your hand at making your own fog and convert it to steam somehow try this link.(It was one of my lucid moments - but I'm feeling much better now.) - bikermousecybrbeast posted Tue, 23 July 2002 at 7:00 AM

Yeah that's the problem with reflectivity, I need a way to apply it unevenly. I don't have Poser where I am now, but maybe later I'll try just some reflectivity. See how it looks. Otherwise it might be poseble to make an exact duplacate of the character, same pose, place etc. Make it a little bit bigger then make a transparancy map of what I want te look like sweat, and apply reflectivity on that bit. But that would really be a LOT of work.
