After installing, checking out the folder structure, and putting in a test selection of P4 items I expect I'll load a couple of test PZ3's, and play with render options to compare with the same renders in P4.

Play. It would be a rare treat to install something and not have to use it immediately to make deadline. If I make spaghetti out of the hair and wrap his knickers into a tie-dyed twist and displace his features so much that he is more alien than anyone ever shown on StarTrek... then I'll be content. :) Carolly

hauksdottir posted Thu, 25 July 2002 at 11:42 PM
Mr Tuna, It would appear that aliens worship female humans (which is why they come to earth and delicately capture them with their soft-tentacled pseudopods). Once back home in a nearly weightless environment, they install these perfect specimens in brightly lit niches in their temples. Since space flight is quite expensive, even for a Mother Church encompassing 3/4 of Known Space, holograms of these deities are sold to visitors and pilgrims as souvenirs. Unfortunately, the black underbelly of the Market has made inferior 2-dimensjional copies of these images widely available, even to those who have not made the pilgrimage to Earth. [Please note that this explains the quality of the light, the architectural background, the tippy-toed position, the perky breasts, and the vacant other-worldly expression]

The first thing I will do when Poser finally arrives is stop reading threads related to it or look at any gallery images until the Mac version arrives. When the Mac version finally doesarrive, I will gather any and all photos of celebraties, use the photo/ face generator to create cgi "stars". sketch render them, then peddle them at the mall to pay for my Poser 5. I'm claiming all NY malls as my territotry now, but am willing to sell rights to individual malls on a first come first serve basis. IM me for details and pricing.

takes a deep breath and signs contently ah, a thread with more than 50 replies. It feels good to be back home. :) I'd prolly try and sniff the freshness of the box through the shrinkwrap... you can't imagine the funny looks you get when you do that in the store where you bought it. They get even worse when you do it to the programs you want to buy, can't, and put it back on the shelf (just kidding on that part). muwahaha. :D
FishNose posted Fri, 26 July 2002 at 1:16 PM
Oh God, what a funny thread! I laughed until my belly hurt! And for me it's ... all of the above. But mostly it's gonna be, Oh wow, is this true? Oh wow, it IS true! Oh no, I'm not going to get any sleep, I'm going to lose my marbles, my family will kick me out (OK, as long as I can take my 'puter with me) And I'm going to yell and laugh and jump up an down and get mad and shout with glee and say OH SHIT, DIDN'T THEY FIX THAT! and OH YEAH! THEY FIXED THAT! and generally become crazier than ever before. I may be 46, but in the presence of Poser I'm 5 years old holding on tight to an impossibly fantastic morphing BARBIE DOLL!! and ACTION MAN!! You know, until just a few years ago I was still wondering, what will I be when I grow up? Seriously. Well I know now, have known for a couple of years. I'll be a Poser junkie till I draw my last breath in front of my 'puter. Yeah, but after all the worst thrill and excitement and 'it can't be true' and all that, I'll look and see how the lights are, how the render engine does it's thing .... and if crosstalk REALLY is gone. Anthony and Steve and the others at CL - you lot are responsible for a lot you know. You created a whole generation of babbling idiots who can only communicate with vertices on a screen, and in the best case with forums like this one. Serious stuff. :o] :] FishNose (shaking in his boots thinking about the consequences for himself when that damn thing lands on his desk) Yeah, I really am worried....

I'm going to render a tiny animation as a series of png, tif and psd images. Then I'm going to save a few and export a few images. This is how I'm going to find out if the inverted alpha channel bug is at long last fixed. It's the most annoying thing about Poser and the Pro Pack to me.
I'm taking the manual to bed with me and at least skim it cover to cover before reading it thoroughly over a period of time to follow, I'll play with everything in the meantime.
