Not to be a prude but this thread belongs over at the sister site considering the contents of the site you cite. Please think about deleting it and moving the discussion over there. jje

Sister site? What's that? And what do you mean, "my content"? I didn't know talking about making a dress was considered in bad taste. If you're reffering to where I got the picture; who cares? She's not naked in the picture is she?

John West has a long dress that has that same cut in the neckline but not the back. However, you can use it with a transparency to make any parts you want invisible and make it as short as you like since it has the neckline you want. http://members.xoom.com/tygerskins/ghastley/index.htm It's the one called long dress. Hope this helps.

jje: As long as someone doesn't ask about how to make some sex toys, I think this discussion belongs right here. I'd love to have a dress like this. Maybe a combination of the upper parts of the catsuit with a transparency map and the miniskirt will do it...

I may already have made this! I'll check my archives. There were a nuber of variations of the long dress that is now at Tygerskins that had different skirt lengths and/or no back, so maybe I did that combo. No promises!

JJe-- You say not to be a prude and then go forth being one? There's no nudity, no hyperlink, no bad words and we're talking about making a dress. Jesus. -Darth_Logice

No I just think that openly posting a link to an explicit sex site isn't appropriate. There is nothing wrong with the dress. Please re-read what I wrote to see exactly to what I am objecting. The addition of the (partial) url to the original post doesn't add anything and seems to be more in the "look what I can do" sly prank vein. To work in Poser is to work with erotic images, QED. Recall, the dividing line between acceptable and unacceptable became an element in the forum wars. Yet, nudity itself is not a prohibiting factor on this site. The membership has done an outstanding job policing itself. I cannot recall one incident where active members, of all ages, did not act in a reasonable thoughtful manner. And so including that (partial) url struck me as inconsiderate and thoughtless. For what possible reason would any of us need the location of another run-of-the-mill porn site? Certainly it cannot be because we've run out of other venues for textures for the P4NYW. If, by my tone-of-type I have offended anyone then accept my sincere appoligies. However it is my opinion that, whole or partial urls to adult sites, shoudld not be posted to Renderosity advertently or inadvertently. jje

The reason he posted that link, as he pointed out, was to cover his ass regarding copyrights of images. He stated the source of his image so that anyone in charge of that sight, should they see it here, gets proper credit and advertisement for the use of their owned photo. Thus, he cannot be sued. I don't think for a minute he intended for anyone to go "Oh, wow, a porn site...let's go! One more thing... Yahoo is not an adult site by any means. However, anyone can do a search for Porn and get hundreds of hyperlinks where all it takes is a click of the mouse to see nudity. Links are not porn. It's just a street sign and in my opinion, can be posted anywhere for any reason at any time. -Darth_Logice

That dress didn't let me come to a rest, so I had to try it out. As usual, it was more work than expected. The standard UV mapping mode of the catsuit does not allow to define a clean transparency at the sides and beside the breasts. The same counts for all other standard Poser clothing. I tried, and so my first hour was gone. Here's the way around this: 1. Take Steve Cox's UV Mapper (in Free Stuff) and load blcatsuit.obj from the GeometriesPoser4ClothesSuits directory. 2. Use the command Edit/New UV Map/Cylindrical to generate a new cylindrical map. I used 1024 as size, checked the "Scale result". 3. Save the Template with File/Save Texture Map. 4. Save the new object under another name, e.g. blcatsuit_cyl.obj, with File/Save Model. This is important to change the UV settings in the obj! Otherwise the map will not work. 5. Load the Catsuit.cr2 file from the RuntimeLibrariescharacterClothing-Female directory in a text editor. 6. Change all the appearances of the filename "blcatsuit.obj" to the new name "blcatsuit_cyl.obj". 7. Save the file under a different name, e.g. CatsuitCyl.cr2. The next time you start Poser, you have a new Catsuit in the library (no thumbnail, but what the heck!) which you can use with the new template. Why a cylindrical map? With this projection type, the object's mesh is projected onto a virtual cylinder wrapped around it. This makes the arms unusable, but we don't need them here. Anyway, this projection allows a better painting all around the body's y-axis. I put my transparency map at http://verzeichnisse.freepage.de/welcometoac/images/bcscyl_t.tif You can easily taylor the dress by changing the shapes. It isn't perfect, as you can see at the arrow in the picture. There's still one edge that refuses to be mapped, but that can easily be done in postprocessing. Now let's come to the point of combining the clothes: 1. In Poser, create the new CatsuitCyl. 2. In the hierarchy editor, make every part of the catsuit invisible, except for body, abdomen, chest, neck, left collar and right collar. 3. In the render materials, set highlight, ambient and reflection for the CatsuitCyl to black. 4. Set both transparency min and max to 100%. 5. Load the transparency file as a transparency map. 6. Create a Miniskirt. Make it the same color as the CatsuitCyl. Load no maps and leave transparency at 0%. 7. Your done! I hope that helped you a lot nearer to your dress.
