For those of you who have all the inside information, will there be an easy way to import my Poser 4.0 Pro Pack runtime library into Poser 5.0? I have an extensive library of add ons and the idea of reinstalling them one by one into Poser 5.0 is intimidating. Will the set up of Poser 5.0 overwrite old version so that I have only one Poser on my computer, or will I have to have both versions installed because of lack of compatibility of some items from one version to the other? The answer to these daunting questions may determine how soon I upgrade.

Judgeing by the way Poser 4 installs over Poser3... you can decide whether to over-install or make a new installation. It has been stated that P5 will be fully backwards compatible indicating to me that the library structures will be the same, but with additional folders. All addidional content will just be added to your libraries on install. The P5 installer won't delete stuff which is already there. The chaps and chapesses of CL will have thought this through to make upgrading as painless as possible. The only difference that I can see within the libraries is the ability of the folder tab to navigate deeper into any folder structure within the folders. You'll probably have to move files into sub-folders manually... but they show up as little folder symbols in the library panel. H:)

Sounds really good, if only all upgrades were that good. Does anyone know if the hair growth feature will work with Daz figures too?

A really cool feature in Poser 5- you can add additional runtimes. So you could save your current P4 or Pro Pack runtime, completely intact, on another hard drive or CD or where ever, then add it as a second runtime. You can also extract zipped 3rd party content into a new runtime (most zipped content already is set-up to extract this way) then you can add that new runtime as a third, fourth or whatever number runtime. Each runtime shows up in the P5 Library, referenced by the directory name, and you can select each independently, and then navigate through the selected runtime. Load content from several runtimes into the Poser scene file. This is a cool way to split your content into many smaller runtimes that can be added at will. Kupa

But how will this show up in the Libraries?? And I assume I can still have my SEPARATE Poser THREE, and FOUR Posers alongside the new Poser 5? Lyne

I fully intend to install Poser 5 in its own folder. I want to experience the full majesty of Poser 5 without any influence of previous Poser versions. After I've had a chance to "court woo, and bed" Poser 5, then I shall consider installing stuff that had previously been installed in Poser 4. "What's that honey?!" I gotta go. My wife is calling.

The additional runtimes show up as these little folder icons at the top of the Library. You can click on the folder icon to select the external runtime you want to browse.

... and you can still have your old runtimes and even old Poser installations, just choose a different location to install P5.

Kupa, I have to admit, I'm curious about one thing (only ONE??? - Well, one thing at this particular moment:-)) - How will P5 react if it encounters a Geometry or texture ref in a file and doesn't find it where it's expected? (With over 20 Gigs of installed textures, I've often wished P4 could make & refer to a database of installed textures to cut down on search times)

Additional runtimes? Now this is a good idea. :D

LG, Poser 5 will attempt to search in a number of "expected" locations for files it can't locate, but good file management skills on the user's end are going to be critical for keeping track of gigs content. A database of all your content is a good idea. Maybe for another release, or for a clever python script writer. Kupa

Good file management skills are critical with any software whether it be Poser, Lightwave, After Effects, or TombRaider 5. On second thought Lara Croft is rather self sufficient.
