looks nice Jerry Ironically, it is nearly identical to a hairmap I created for that IDENTICAL hairstyle. Its on a "Future Elf" character that I created way back in late 1998. I just dug her out of my files and rendered a pic this afternoon. I am debating posting her character... Eric Walters

Thnx ;) It still has distortion on the back tho...but I'm getting purdy dang close.. It would very much help me if someone could explain how to unwrap the UVmap in Max..

I kinda LIKE the distortion in the back... I think it still needs a little tweeking on the size of the texture. I keep getting weird effects with the eyes of the test figure not taking the texture I want them to have, and it only happens with your hair. I'll post the test picture tonight. But it looks fine! Once I figure out the problem with the washed out look on my character this hair is going to be a standard for at least two figures. Nice work.

Hmmm that might have something to do with the way I saved it ...to get a good preview in the library.. There was a character under that hair, so urs prolly takes over the expression from mine..(wich was none) It prolly helps to save the expression from ur character before u put on the hair..than put the face back on. I know thats kinda a long way to use it..so I look into it

Jerry, have you tried UVmapper from Steve Cox? ITs a simple and useful program. My old map was made with a rather random approach (before UVmapper) I use UV mapper now. Very simple! Eric Walters

I agree I use Max 3, and I really don't like it's unwrap comand. -Gabe-

well I rebuild the map for this prop in UVmapper...took me 3 days to get it as flat as possible. The only thing that would make it a better map is if I could unwrap the edges..like the map of the poser models are done. The tail for instance is distorted because the map has parts of the prop hidden behind other parts
