To try and avoid the problem I had last month... where I thought the winner wasn't interested in posting a challenge... I have given July's winner more time to respond to the e-mails.
Alas... no response. :(
So while Pidjy did win July's challenge... we've already lost two weeks of August waiting for their post.
So... I will go ahead and start this one off... and because of the lost weeks, and the possible complexity, this challenge will go until September 25th. At Mid-night (Eastern time), we'll start the voting.
So... without further a due...
**
Theme: Concept Vehicles.
Constraints:
Must be original vehicles
(if you dont model, you can use a purchased and/or obtained model in a complete scene).
Must meet the ground (hover craft and low altitude flyers are ok) at least some of the time. Taking a hint from Ray Tracy in Full Tilt (http://www.menithings.com/video/FullTilt/Video_Tilt_01.html)
Can be modeled, drawn, and rendered in anything you choose.
While not a required, inclusion in a scene wouldnt hurt. ;)
**
So
what do you think the 2030 Ducati will look like?
Will cars actually fly (ala Back to the Future) in a few years and what will the roads look like?
For those of you keeping track... yup. I tried this near the beginning of July as well.
You can repost your entry from there in this thread (or in the Challenge Gallery.. with a link in the thread).

I'll be along shortly. This is my first try at creating a vehicle. It's nearly done but now I need to work on a setting.

The subject matter is rather more involved than it has been in the past couple of months, as is shown by the extended period through which this particular challenge runs. I am certain that there will be sufficient entries by Sept 25. I personally am only in the infant stages of the creation of the models for my image.

We also can't forget that little week at the beginning of last month's challenge confusion... where Kris, or Mist_Hunter01 had posted an entry... which I am accepting in this bi-month challenge .... Linked above. The doctor says I have way too much blood in my caffeine system.

Dear Rimrunner I apologize for not have posted a response earlier, I've just discoverd that I won july's challenge. But I did not have the possibility to come on renderosity web site those past 4 weeks. So excuse me for the trouble I've cosed Warm regards Pidjy

No trouble at all. I just like to keep things moving... but tell you what.. we'll work out something if you have an idea for a challenge. :)

Here's mine. I took the one I had before out, because I didn't consider it worthy enough against this great competition. This is one that I am slightly more attracted to ;) Many thanks to RR for making me re-enter.draculaz posted Tue, 03 September 2002 at 11:28 PM
oh yeah, all in Bryce, if you're wondering. Metaballs and volumetric smoke :)

How did you do those tyre treads?
Batsarse posted Sat, 21 September 2002 at 8:15 AM
Gabosamu posted Sun, 22 September 2002 at 1:45 AM
Those tire threads are easy, they were made with 3d max 3.0, all you have to do is model the line thread, make a mirror of it, clone it with the spacing tool, extrude it with a black matte material, and make a render of it, if you wish you can adapt the map to fit the tire with PSP or photoshop like I did, set it as a bump on the tire material, and there you go.

Well.. here it is, finally time to vote. I can say that I've never been so torn. Almost wish that I could vote in 'classes' or by application.. but, only one vote per person.. so... I place my chip on Mist_Hunter01 (linked above). That is one car I would HAVE to own, if it were real. ;)

iJack999's Electric Studabaker gets my vote, because it's a nice, simple blend of retro and modern. It actually looks like something you'd see on the roads in the near future, and here's the clincher - it looks affordable as well!
