I downloaded a few matierials, you know to extend my library...and when i try to load the .mat bryce freezes...am i doing something wrong? do i have to install the .mat file in a specific location? any help will be greatly appreciated.

it actually might not be freezing, especially depending on how much you're importing, sometimes those libraries can go slow, also if you have bryce4 and they're bryce5 mats could be the problem as well(but I don't know if theres really a difference between the two, ya never know though)

Yeah. If you are using B4, you have to make sure the .mat's are for B4 and not B5.

Complex material files, (you know not just one texture per mat, but 30 textures or something like that) can take a while to import. especially on slower machines (in my opinion less than 800 MHz intel/amd is slow).

That should be a fast enough computer. Strange problem. Wich download is it? Maybe I can test it and get a better idea of why you get this problem.
