go into the materials section and on then on the part of clothing you want goto to transparency which is at the bottom right then load the file then at the top centre make sure that trans min and trans max are at 100% and it should work. James

Things can be made transparent by using the "Transparency Max" slider in the "Surface Material" window (Render> Materials). Parts of an object can be excluded from the effects of "Transparency Max" by using a gray scale transparency map (TransMap). Light parts of a trans map will appear opaque, dark parts transparent. When applying a trans map, start by setting the "Transparency Max" slider to 100%, the other Transparency sliders to 0%.

Try using your graphic as both a texture map, annd a trans map.

Apply this image to a Poser square as a transparency map, scale the square up to 400% or so, set "transparency max to 100%, and experiment to get a feel for what trans maps do.

You can make a fringe type transparency, like lesbentley mentioned using a black/white trans map. One was done for the RuntimeDNA mini-dress, so it can be done. Basically, you have the white area of the fringe that you want to stay, separated by black areas to use as the transparent area. -darlisa

okay...i think you want to make everything but the hairs transparent, right....just use the lasso tool, and cut out the bottom part in sections...like making a psp picture tube....then, fill those sections with black.... do it holding down your shift key, to add to the selection, each time you lasso one of them off. then, reverse selection, and paint the hairs white.

Creating a crude fringe like in the above pic is not difficult. To do a good job would require a UV Mapper template and some skill in paint programs.

yes i can do those kind of textures, its getting hair to do what its supposed to. i guess would be like the hair you can find in freebies. how it has a transmap and when its rendered in poser it looks real. that is what im trying to do with that texture. but i cant seem to do it right and i dont understand how.

LadyBea32, I don't understand. Are you trying to make the dress look hairy, or to put a fringe on it, or to put a hairy fringe on it, or to get hair to show through the fringe?
