Where do I find these competitions? I want to get more involved with the Bryce community so I can get better so where do I find out about these contest. I seen so many good works I doubt that I would have a chance. Is there begginers contest?

I have not heard about a beginners contest, but it is a nice idea. (Agent smith? Clay?) The info on the challenge can be founf under the link in the banner (the link says 'here'), you can't miss it.

After looking at my grotesquely heinous entry in the Aug challenge you'll realise that being a beginner won't affect your chances of winning! :) In actual fact, I only found out about competitions & stuff a few weeks ago. There's a link at the top of the page for the Bryce monthly challenge. Just post your entry as a new thread on this forum. For the others, check out the challenge forums.

thanks for the replies hehe only thing i see wrong with my begginers contest is how can u really tell who is a beginner and who just sucks lol maybe based of the work be based if the person qualifies for new or not.

The Rhino forum does a beginer, moderate, and advanced. challenge monthly. You can go there and take a look if you want but the just of it is the the beginer one is pretty easy Like say for a Bryce a Mountain Range, Something pretty easy. Something a beginer would want to and need to improve on no imports, no postwork, I think they would get a lot of feedback and improvement tips then. I cant think of a Moderate, but maybe something that require some basic modeling some latices, slightly tougher stuff Maybe some imports some postwork. Then Advanced, Bah well we could go hog wild with modeling, imports, what ever. As far as how do you know who a beginer is, same way they know in the rhino forum, simply do what you want to do. What you think will challenge you the most. Nothing really but honesty will save you here, in Rhino same as here it is to show how good you can do in the range you think you are. I mean we dont win any real prizes here. I really doubt a begining challenge will be that appealing to an advanced user.

perhaps, if we were to institute multi levels of competition, I would suggest that everyone start in the beginner challenge, and the 3 top artists would move on to the intermediate. perhaps 2 beginner challenges each month, 1 intermediate challenge per month, and 1 advanced challenge every other month. any other ideas??

Wladamire posted Wed, 21 August 2002 at 4:14 PM

that sounds great. but previous winners wouldnt be allowed in beginners correct?

big_hoovie posted Thu, 22 August 2002 at 4:31 AM

I would think so, although perhaps after a while, we would have no beginners left, huh? Perhaps if we had some sort of benchmark to compare entrants to, to decide which challenge they belong to...

To months for one advanced challenge seems a bit long to me. But I like the overall idea.
