How can I get rid of the "light inside nostrils" effect, again? Memory is the second thing to go. --ratta

Ok. Grouping Tool, huh? Hmmm... real Poser stuff. I hope I don't have to think. Thanks Allerleirauh and thanks again for that hair. --ratta

It happens because Poser's renderer doesn't seem to ray-trace, but highlights every surface that faces in the correct direction, without finding if it is hidden from the light.

heya; oh, i will try to remember to send them to poserworld thsis week :/ actually i sent one, but cant remember if it was the males or the females.

Well, I did the grouping thing, set the new material to 50% then 100% transparent and didn't like the effect. I mean, the camera is looking right up his nose. Maybe it's ok the way it is. I'd add the pic, but can't seem to upload a pic in a Reply. --ratta

heya; you can set the nostril material to all black (colour/highlight/ambient) to make it appear dark instead of lit up. this can be a little harsh, though.

Yeah, tried that, too. Looked like... well was weirder than the light. I'll post the pic soon. It's just about done enough for me. Thanks. --ratta

So many people here ask questions like this. How do I get rid of the nostril light? How do I fix the funky elbows? Isn't it easier to just fix this kind of stuff in Photoshop?

Of course it would be easier, Legume. I didn't say I was a smart person, did I? Max would just say, "Oh." Anyway, lighting and composing in 3d is what I enjoy most. That's why the mose thing was bugging me. I'm still an art director at heart, I guess, and retouching was always the last resort for me. Drove the photographers and video directors nuts, but I guess it's just one of my few but significant character flaws. Heheh. --ratta

Here is something top try, and works - most of the time. Take two ball props and resize, color and add texture, and bump maps to them, close to the shading you want. Then use the transparancy settings to make them simi transparent and stick them up in the nostral opening on the figures. If that doesn't work, color the balls orange, stretch them out to look like carrots and.... Well, it usually gets some kind of reaction at parties! Cheers, Rob
