i'm trying to make a cube and spear it with a cylinder. cube is positive, cylinder is negative. then i want it to appear as a round hole right thru the cube, so i can see thru it. no matter what i do, it won't work. cannot find the group objects option anywhere, in bryce5. i 've linked the cylinder to parent cube and even made the cylinder transparent. nothing works. been trying every combination possible for about a week now.

You will have to select both the cube and the cylinder and press the little "G" next to them to group them together.

A week! Damn, that would persuade even me to read the manual! ;) As Rochr says, select both objects, after you've made one positive and the other negative. Click the Group icon, or choose object/group, and voila! Note that if one of the objects is already part of a group it don't work. The mat of the positive object is, obviously, the outside mat, and the mat of the negative object becomes the mat of the hole.

Tuttle, I agree, unless he spilled sugared coffee on the manual and the roaches ate it over night.

Did you ever find the "G"? This was one of the first things I was determined to master when learning Bryce. Now I have a blast with positive and negative booleans.
