I know there is a new (relatively speaking) patch for Bryce and have yet to go get it. What will I get for the download G? I think I understood there are some new volumetric settings--beyond that? I keep hearing of major complaints from folks here about Bryce but it is my absolutely favorite graphic app. I think you have to work with it enough to start to think 'Bryce like' and I admit that sometimes its a wee bit frustrating (I have yet to learn the deep material lab--but plan to work with it soon). Still, I am always amazed to find what I can do with it--and I'm pretty much a novice. Without Bryce I could never have done my bass underwater pic which is by far the best think I've ever done. I admit I get seduced sometimes by Poser, but Bryce is still my favorite and the one I just sit down and play with to get started. Just thought I'd mention my love affair with Bryce. I bought it because I saw someone do a 3D fractal with it back last Spring and I was into fractals at the time--and its been 'downhill' ever since -VBG. Diane B

Diane I agree with you. Even if there is never a new version of Bryce there is enough here to last me for the rest of my life. I'll never learn it all, but I'm sure going to have fun trying. Harrison2

HehHe Yeah I tend to get "Seduced" by Poser from time to time But I like Bryce much better. I assume your talking the patch for Bryce 4. on the same page as the patch you can d/load the new vulumetric presets. There really nice But some are really slow( for this PII 200)but really nice to tweak and modify. also there are some import upgrades a new shader in the materials lab. and a new mode in the noise editor in the DTE are a few things that come to mind. I think there is a read me file. you can see what the upgrades actually are. Hawkfyr

I love Bryce and have thought it awesome even back in version 1 ... The patch .. I downloaded it but am not sure what it does different .. Think I have actually installed it too Laughs Too darn tired .. The volumetrics are there Waves a little noise maker sarcastically Sorry but I just don't have time for them Washed out pics tat take hours and hours .. no thanks ... Anyway .. There is suppossed to be a quicker render time .. short time for rendering with little lights in the backround ... Uhm ... not sure off hand but I haven't had any problems ... There is a read me though that has the full list of new/fixed goodies

I think its safe to say that we all love Bryce, but it has its default and thats what we complain about. Until they come out with a patch or anything that permits us to attch carrara poser and bryce together I'll always have something to complain about. Or at least make it fully exportable. I'd just love to see a Bryce terrain rendered in Carrara, man I'm drooling just thinking about it!

There's always something new to learn in Bryce. You can do ANYTHING with it. It just depends on how hard you want to work for it and how long you want to wait for a render and how well you learn to use the deeper features. Macbeth, as far as washed out renders, try turning gamma correction off, I think it's the fourth arrow down just on the left of the render screen. It helps a lot.

I agree with Diane and Harrison2--and with those that scream in frustration with Bryce. It's the app I love to hate, sometimes, and hate to love at others. Bryce is like what some people think of the United States: So much power--but what (and how) to do with it?
