Ha ha ha. Look's like I tricked you into reading this message, how sneaky of me ;-). Anyways, I wrote that subject to get the attention of everyone at this forum. It seems it's that time when everyone is getting Poser 5 fever. This, in turn, damages this forum. Every other post seems to include a question relating to the new Poser 5 and this is driving me crazy. People want to know if Poser 5 will take care of children, wash the car, and take the family dog out for a walk. If you really want to know, you should click on the link on the top of the Renderosity website to Curious Labs. If you still have more questions you shouldnt flood this forum with messages asking if Poser 5 will be compatible with every program ever created. Secondly, there are also way to many posts with people wining about the Poser 5 price. Who cares!?! Some people are going crazy because they can't afford the $130 upgrade. Do you people work at McDonalds and get such small wages that you can't afford 130 dollars? (No offense to any McDonalds workers out there) I know that this community is as close as a family and I can't say much because most of you don't know me but, do we really have to tell each other that just 5 minutes ago you just preordered Poser 5? Which brings me to my next point. On September 15th, when Poser 5 is released, i can't even begin to imagine how flooded this forum is going to get with people describing the glory of using Poser 5 and laughing at the Poser Pro Pack, 4, and 3 users. I know Poser 5 will revolutionize 3d computer design and in reflection will change the median for 3d software, so flooding this forum with idiots jumping up and down won't help the rest of us feel any better. Whatever happened to the days when you came to the forum and saw new artist wanting feedback and people like PhilC, c1rcle, or SAMS3D responding with heart warming comments. Whatever happened to the days when ISOP made something new and everyone shared the joy of new clothing for Vicki(on one post). Or when a newbie came and everyone rushed to be the first ones to help him or her. Whatever happened to those days? I know after saying all those things most of you will hate me, some even might send threats to me, but guess what; i don't really care. The good thing is that the annoying posts are going away (probably because some of you have asked every question imaginable).
I wrote this message to ask some of you to tone down your Poser 5 fever and even take medication if you have to. That is all.

$130 is a lot for some people. Not everyone is in the U.S. with comparitively high salaries. McD workers make more per month than doctors do in some countries. Yeah, we're all excited. It's better to have people itching for P5 than itching for a fight, though. There's still a good number of how-to posts. Sure, there will be a flurry of nyah-nyahs when P5 ships, but it will die down just like the pre-P5 posts. Now, are those red pills or yellow pills, and are you sure you took the right number? ;-)

Lance, We are going to see a whole lot of bragging posts the minute people come home and open the box with Poser 5. however, within a couple of days after release, we are going to start seeing a whole lot of "help me" posts followed by people piling in to help. The Hair Room is going to present a rat's nest of surprises or I miss my guess (and my pun). Some folks will get a Rapunzel braid down the tower and pooling gracefully below, but for each such artist, there will be 99 others pulling out their real hair in frustration at the inability to get fuzz on anything other than a sphere. (And, yes, one of the very first things I'm going to try when I get my fingers on this program is to see just how long I can grow it!) Other folks have probably already taken digital pictures of their family and are impatiently waiting to turn their kids, cats, and muskrats (and former spouses?) into 3D figures... and then they are going to pull up short at the Face Room with little green and red dots. Textures are going to be combined of layers. We'll still have the precision of UVMapping for embroidery or wallpaper, but now we can have flocked velvet, or orange peel, or rusted chain mail, too. Folks who have used shaders in Bryce or similar programs won't have too much of a problem, but others might need a bit of hand-holding until they get used to it. So, I fully expect the supportiveness of the community to come forth again, when needed, and that will be when people start asking for help and others eager to share reach out to them. Carolly

Is this a question about post-production? When we answer it are we providing a postal service? Do people who get flamed in the responses become post toasties? Is the ebot from this thread going to be similar to an electronic post card? Does the mod hold a post office? If we stop responding and the thread dies is it post apacolyptic? But then if I look it up later in the archives am I reading it (post)humously? If I answered this with a fake nick would I be an im(post)er? Am I anywhere in the running as the (post)er child of puns? Are you anywhere close to going (post)al? Now go away or I shall pun you a second time.

YOu know what I really wish people in this community would grow the hell up. So what if people are posting every five seconds about Poser. Why do you have to make a big deal about it? Plan and simple this forum isn't here to serve YOUR needs. If people feel like talking about it then they will. If you don't like a post, a series of posts or the entire forum, then be a big boy and ignore it. That's what the rest of us do. If you really want to bash people for being excited about Poser 5 and want everyone to agree with you then maybe you should head over to PoserSnobs, they have a nice thread about that woke me up to the fact, that some folks aint happy unless they can bitch about what the other guys are doing. Why do you have to make a big deal about it? Maybe because posts about pricing and delivery should be relegated to the Product Showcase Forum, not here. I'm also getting a little tired of the "DAMN, THIS COSTS SOOOOOO MUCH!/"I ORDERED MINE WOOHOO!!!" flood of posts that have nothing to do with the actual operation of the software. But because this is Poser 5, we somehow treat it differently from, say, Jim Burton announcing an update to his SMV series. I don't know about you, but I find the dichotomy a little disturbing. You want to discuss price? Take it to Product Showcase where it belongs. Delivery dates? Take it to Product Showcase where it belongs. Anything that's remotely an ad for Curious or P5? Take it to Product Showcase where it belongs.
pendarian posted Tue, 27 August 2002 at 11:19 PM
Okay, I have a question..why would anyone take a question they have about the software that this forum was built for to the Product Showcase? I mean, I may be wrong here, but a vendor that is advertising his wares in the Product showcase is way different then a user asking or discussing points that may be of interest to the general populace. Just asking here. Otherwise, my attitude would be just like any other forum or site, if you don't want to read it, just pass it on by, then you won't have to worry about complaining about it. I mean, essentially, having a thread about the complainers, then the complainers continuing a thread about complaining just seems like an awful waste of space. Pendy
VirtualSite posted Tue, 27 August 2002 at 11:35 PM
why would anyone take a question they have about the software that this forum was built for to the Product Showcase? If it has to do with price and shipping, it's supposed to be discussed in the Product Showcase, Pen. That's the whole purpose of that forum, to act as an advertising conduit. If someone is discussing a feature of the software or a question of its capabilities, that's something else altogether and should be posted here. But posts about price are supposed to be taken elsewhere. That's Rsity's own rule, not mine.

I agree that there's far too many posts about what poser5 is going to be able to do or not do, but I'm still hanging around trying to make "heart warming comments" lol thanks lance, & helping the newbies as much as I can. It must be really difficult for the mods right now to decide where these posts should be, should they be in the poser forum or the showcase forum or even poser technical as most questions are of a technical nature. I freely admit I got caught up in the excitement of the impending poser5 release & now that money is changing hands I've calmed down again. I do disagree lance with your comment about us poser5ers laughing at those who are not upgrading straight away, I'm planning to keep poser4 installed & active even after I get poser5 simply so I can keep my poser4 skills alive to help all the newbies who are coming soon with the magazine freebies that are just round the corner. I personally don't hate you lance, why should I? you said nice things about me & others. ps it really depends what level you are when you work in mcdonalds or how many stars you have. Rob

Whoa. Do we need a forum specifically for Poser 5? I kind doubt it. In a few months, when the hoopla dies down, you're gonna be stuck with what will then become three Poser fora, one attached to a specific upgrade. I would suggest just looking at the opening message to each thread and then responding accordingly. If it has to do with price or shipping, move it to the Product Showcase. If it has to do with a feature of the software, leave it here. Eventually we're all (even us Mac users) going to need those feature threads, and they would be far better served if kept in the Poser forum.

Gee, what fun! Can I complain about the whiners complaining about the complainers complaining about other complainers whining about whatever? I wouldn't wanna be left out or somethin'. As far as P5 is concerned, maybe in about a year I'll be able to afford to upgrade from my Pentiumsaurus (PII-400), and THEN I might (if lucky), in another 6 months or so be able to upgrade to Bryce 5, and maybe 6 months after that (if VERY fortunate) I MIGHT be able to upgrade to Poser5, only of course by then Poser 7 will be out and Bryce will probably up to V.8 or V.9, and......... Oh, hell, maybe I'd just better shoot myself and have done with it. ;o) P.S. Bitch, moan, whine, complain, grrrrrrrrrrrrowl. (gotta fit in, ya' know). ;o)

You know Allen you are right, this isn't really a world crisis and maybe some of us do whine, or complain, but also on the other hand this is a forum, why else come here if not to aid each other in our small little whinning days, we all have them, we are human, that is what makes us what we are. We do learn from our mistakes and whinning, we do find people who care and we also find other things that may not suit us for that particular day. I particularly like it here, all in all wonderful people having days, good, bad, whatever. But we are all here and for the most part, are friends. Poser 5, can't wait to get it, I am fortunate that I can, maybe I will be more fortunate to get it for someone else too.......(Allen9), you never know what some people will do for others, just for the smile.....
