I am having a difficult problem getting the sky to render cleanly for a short animation I am doing. A series of bands appears in the sky when rendered. They are not especially apparent in a still unless rendered in final or ultra but show up extremely well in animation. The attached render was done at ultra resolution to help show this, I blew up the inset and cranked up the contrast to help show the bands. When rendered in an animation the sky seems to have horizontal bands traveling up. Any ideas/suggestions on how to eliminate these would be greatly appreciated. I can also throw in a free burrito for the first one with a fix for this.

I think these bandes are coming from one of your clouds layer. Try to check them. The other thing that can make this kind of things could be volume lights but I think there is none in your animation... The last thing I can say is that you can eventually contact me via instant message. I'll send you my e-mail adress so you can send me your Vue file for I can try to find the problem... Hope it can help ! Argentium Thri'ile

Thanks for the reply. You were correct in that the problem was in the atmosphere settings. There seems to be a three way conflict created between the 'sky color map distorsion', 'fog in sky' on the sky tab along with the 'fog' in the fog & haze tab. I don't have it all figured out yet but it seems to be a combination of these three causing the banding. Essentially I turned off all of the atmosphere settings and turned them back on one at a time to figure out what was causing the problem. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Happy for you, and I hope we'll see the animation soon... :-) Argentium Thri'ile
