I couldn't log in myself, but I clicked the radio button that emails my password, and received some garbled cypher I would never have created myself. I cut-and-pasted it into the password box, and then I was in. Maybe the old passwords were lost when DAZ switched over to the new store software.

judith posted Sat, 31 August 2002 at 1:19 AM

It took a few attempts, but I was finally able to get my password...... same way. The first gew times I tried though it kept taking me back to login. Persistance, in this case paid off!

I didn't have any vouchers, so I didn't even think to look.

When I signed back in to look over my account, I noticed a section at the bottom that reads:

Available Credits:
None
Claim gift certificates from the old store (by key)

That last was a link. So maybe credits are part of the new system.

I didn't see an option Pokeydots, but I was in such a hurry to check out I don't know if I would have noticed anyway :)

The new password is a pain, Im at work. Tried to log in and couldnt. Now Ive got to wait until I go home. I hope this password can be changed back to my own one, I dislike sites that generate some random nonsense word that needs a photgraphic memory to remember. If you cant change it or you don`t get the option to have it cookied DAZ is going to get less orders from me. This has put me in a sour mood for the morning B(

You CAN cookie it too. Even if you couldn't, there is an easy way to make those sites that try to be non-cookie hyper-secure (which is idiotic, BTW, since explorer lets YOU decided if you want it to remember the password) ... ... just save the html, edit it to allow it to remember the password, and then bookmark the file on your HD as the login page. 1-2-3, bang, defeated. Works like a charm.

***Hello, everybody!***

It might be a month or so before I can dare to try out those high-resolution textures, or the full version's morph-heavy CR2, but at least I can play around with the LE version while I'm waiting to upgrade my machine.

Here she is with a temporary low-res texture I painted in about twenty-five seconds.

c1rcle posted Sat, 31 August 2002 at 5:30 AM

They (Daz) did it to me again :) in about 5 minutes I'll be installing the full dragon & that's before I've even touched the free LE version, you sneaky sneaky lovely people at Daz, overt marketing ploy it may be but what a quality product. Rob

MeInOhio posted Sat, 31 August 2002 at 6:33 AM

The DAZ site doesn't seem to be working very well for me. I was going to buy the Dragon and the textures and pick up the LE version as well, but I add the dragon to my shopping cart and then go back and add the texture and it puts in the texture and removes the dragon or visa vera. Also, I can't navigate to anything in the store. Clicking on the large picture of the dragon only brings up Morphos. I can also get the items in the small pictures but that's it. I was able to log in after I put the dragon in my account, but it just takes me to a screen where I can edit my account info. But it says I have no downloads and it doesn't give me any buttons to proceed with the order. Kevin

Little_Dragon posted Sat, 31 August 2002 at 6:35 AM

If you don't look at the UV templates, are willing to ignore the seams, and have a good selection of filters, you too can create a quick, crappy texture like this in less than a minute. As geralday might say, don't look too close, it'll spoil the illusion. I used ... let's see ... MuRa's Filter Meister Cloud plugin to generate some interesting organic textures, Paint Shop Pro's built-in Tiles texture effect to add the scaly pattern, and tossed in a bit of noise to soften it up. The wing membranes got the same treatment, although I didn't add a scaly pattern, and used different settings on the Cloud plugin to create veins.

Little_Dragon posted Sat, 31 August 2002 at 6:41 AM

To navigate through the store, click on the links in the sidebar on the left. The Millennium Dragon, its textures, and the free LE version are all in New Releases. I had to make my way to each item, click Add To Cart, and then navigate to the next. The website personnel put up the new graphic of the dragon on the front page, but I don't think they changed the underlying links (which previously were for Morphos). So when you click that, you still go to Morphos.

MeInOhio posted Sat, 31 August 2002 at 7:00 AM

Well, I managed to get the dragon and textures and the LE version. I was able to get to them by bringing up the LE order page and then clicking on the links for the other two. I had to order the dragon separate from the others. I was able to put the texture and the LE version onto the same order. I did have to request my password which came immediately. When I placed the first order, I got links but the didn't work. I went ahead and place the second order and I got links again. This time they all worked. I still can't seem to navigate through the store. I think I clicked on the links on the left for new releases and it just takes me to that picture of the dragon which will take me to Morphos. But I go back and have another look. Thanks. Wow! What a great deal! Kevin

Thank you L.D. Bikermouse now has the DAZ dragon too. BTW did that come up as script? Anybody still having trouble, The download link doesn't work, so you have to download from your accounts page. (click the second circle from the left at the top of the page. Then paste in the password they gave you. )

MeInOhio posted Sat, 31 August 2002 at 8:00 AM

Nope, the new release link doesn't work for me. When I follow my old link in my favorites, the store entry page opens. I click on new releases and it says the store has moved. I follow the link and it takes me to a page with a picture of the dragon. There are no links to the left on this page. And if I click on any of the links that are on the dragon picture, it just takes me to Morphos. The 3 small links work properly however. But anyway, I got my dragon. Hip Hip hooray! Kevin

Anyone had the same problem? I'll have to wait till monday to check with DAZ costumer service and clear this mess and then purchase safely. The dragon looks awesome! I really want it!

Crescent posted Sat, 31 August 2002 at 1:20 PM

I was able to purchase the dragon. Eventually. The front page link to the store didn't work. It pulled up a script file. I had to click on the dragon picture and go from there. My account password didn't work. I had to e-mail for a new one. (I changed it from the account area later on.) My address was screwed up. It took several attempts to fix all the mistakes. (They didn't pull over the text information properly from their old system.) The security certificate didn't quite match the page I was directed to, so my browser got all snitty. I almost didn't buy the dragon because of all the problems with the site. The number of times the freebie page crashed was sad. And if you want a laugh, go to the Medieval Sale page and play, "What's wrong with this picture?" (Here's a hint, go to the first item and read the verbage carefully. Heck, you don't need to be all that careful!)

ppowellaa posted Sat, 31 August 2002 at 3:21 PM

Questions: Is the difference between the full and LE dragon the extra morphes and poses etc? Can the textures be used on the LE version?

c1rcle posted Sat, 31 August 2002 at 3:31 PM

that's it exactly, extra morphs, textures & poses, the textures can be used on the LE version just the same as the morphed version. Rob

Little_Dragon posted Sat, 31 August 2002 at 3:36 PM

Yes. They have the same UV-mapping, so the textures work on both. The full version also has MAT files for your texturing convenience, the ERC dials for easier posing, and a bunch of add-on props (additional spikes, tail tips, and other pointy bits). The full version includes the LE dragon, so save DAZ some bandwidth if you're buying. Looks like the server took another beating.

Lyne posted Sat, 31 August 2002 at 5:07 PM

Looks like the site is over loaded, and the new way of shopping takes a bit of learning...so I am going to wait impatiently till TUESDAY (HOLIDAY MONDAY REMEMBER!!) when I can call DAZ if I have trouble.. but bet it is all fixed by then.. this IS the ultimate dragon!!! ooooooo!! Lyne

lundon_Don posted Sat, 31 August 2002 at 5:32 PM

Little Dragon- I saw that the full version was supposed to also contain the lite version. I've installed the full version, yet do not see the lite version. Can you tell me where it is?

Little_Dragon posted Sat, 31 August 2002 at 5:58 PM

Hmmm. I was under that impression myself. I initially overlooked the line on the Millennium Dragon page that stated that it included the LE version, and only noticed it later, after I'd already purchased/downloaded both versions. I installed the LE version first, of course, so it was already on my system when I installed the full version. You're right, though. The LE cr2 isn't included in the full version. I suppose that message on the page just means that the Millennium Dragon has the geometry and all the features of the stripped-down LE. If you don't feel like downloading the LE dragon, you could strip all the morphs and ERC code to make your own, but that might take some work.

lundon_Don posted Sat, 31 August 2002 at 6:17 PM

Thanks, Little Dragon. I'll just download the lite one. Frankly, I had such an awful time buying and downloading the full version and the texture that I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something before using up more of Daz' bandwidth downloading the lite version.

Will an expert please answer these questions: "WHAT" is ERC ?? And how does it work? Thank you, Alex

Little_Dragon posted Sat, 31 August 2002 at 11:03 PM

I'm not an expert, nor do I play one on TV, but ....

ERC (Enhanced Remote Control) is an advanced CR2 technique that gives you better control over a figure.

For instance:

Partial body morphs: many morphs linked to one control dial and activated simultaneously
Joint-controlled morphs: morphs linked to joint movement
EasyPose: complex poses generated by a single control dial

In the case of the dragon, ERC is used in many places to make the wings, neck, and tail more easily posable (fold or flap the wings with just one dial!); to link the poseable jaw to the head for Mimic-compatibility; and other stuff I probably haven't noticed yet.

Robert Whisenant (rbtwhiz) is one of the pioneers of ERC; he has a tutorial on his website if you want to delve into the technical aspects of this ... uh ... technique.

I bought the texes & LE dragon, saving the full version for next weekend. If you're going to do this too be aware that the texture pack doesn't seem to include the wing membrane transparency map, though it should be easy enough to create a simple one of your own. I managed to figure out that you had to switch the forked tongue's visibility on and the regular tongue's off for the echt reptillian look, but has anyone found a way to hide the fact the forked tongue originates in the middle of the lower jaw when the mouth is open?

We're going to need a larger temple. RHaseltine: You can use the MAT files to give the dragon a small, forked, reptillian tongue, or you can set the individual dials manually. So you could still have the larger tongue that originates at the base of the throat, with a forked tip. The full Millennium Dragon comes with a wing-membrane transmap, so once you have that, you're all set.

RHaseltine posted Mon, 02 September 2002 at 1:37 PM
