I'm getting an error message in Poser that says insufficent disk space to render at this size - even after I've rendered many images alreay using the same file with the same objects at the same size (rendering rsr images). My specs are as follows: 2.0 GHz HP with Pentium 4 512MB Ram DDR 60 Gig hard drive with an additional 80 gigs on another drive Can anyone help please? Pam

Additional info: c drive free space=36.4 GB external drive free space= 44.2 GB (this is the one Poser is on) running on a PC with XP

Ah yes, XP. (Sounds almost like we have the same computer system) I've gotten this a few times. You might need to fiddle around with your Virtual Memory and increase the size of your pagesys file.

How would I do that? I get a lot of Virtual memory errors as well. I don't know how to adjust either of these. Pam

first thing i would do is to defrag the hd where WINXP is sitting on( normally C) second: look for the settings of your swapfile, normaly the size is set by XP( dynamicaly), but i have better experiences with a fixed size.I have 512 mb ram and the swapfile is set to a fixed size of one gig. where you find all these setting i cant tell you,i have german xp and all these things have different names here But i hope this helps

Not sure about XP but had this happen in W2k. Tweaking the pagefile seemed to fix it.

Thanks everyone but I don't know wher to adjust these settings. Does anyone have any idea where I would find them?

Not sure if this will help, I'm running Win 2000. To change the size of the virtual memory paging file Open System in Control Panel. On the Advanced tab, click Performance Options, and under Virtual memory, click Change. In the Drive list, click the drive that contains the paging file you want to change. Under Paging file size for selected drive, type a new paging file size in megabytes in the Initial size (MB) or Maximum size (MB) box, and then click Set. If you decrease the size of either the minimum or maximum page file settings, you must restart your computer to see the effects of those changes. Increases typically do not require a restart. If not, look in your help files for memory or page files. Hope this will help

RPS : yes its about the same as in xp. And looking in xp help is a good tip! And the best is: set the min- and the maxsize the same!

Thanks RPS & Thegeisal. I'll give it a shot

Well, when I changed the paging file Windows wouldn't open so I had to revert it back to the original settings to start windows again. Maybe I'm not typing in the numbers correctly. It was set at 1536 but I thought that meant MB since that is what the sidebar says so i changed it to 2000. Perhaps I should have only typed in 2??
thgeisel posted Sun, 01 September 2002 at 2:53 PM
yes, the number is in mb 1000 means 1 gig and that should work. check the "user defind" button and on the bottom you can see ,how much free space is available. And perhaps ,if nothing helps, defrag the hd first

I had this very error yesterday. System is a P4 2.2 ghz, 80gig HD and 1 gig of RAM running WinXP. Tried everything I've seen before. Finally, on a whim and a gut feeling, I deleted the geometry .rsr files of all the objects in the scene. I then started Poser and the scene rendered with no problems. I can only imagine that somehow, someway the .rsr files got corrupted. I have read from others where they would delete all their geometry rsr files from time to time. Might not be a bad idea. However, I am hoping that Poser 5 will eliminate this apparent problem. Take care and be well. casamerica
