Here's a quick update on the labyrinth kit I am building. I am thinking of changing the height of the wall panels from 3 meters to 4 meters (only because making a cubic uvmap is dead easy). The style is done in sci-fi "DecoTech" (thanks for coining the term berkeys). I have decided to hold off on adding ladders and exposed lifts for a future expansion kit simply because it will get too large to download. I'll post another update very soon. :o)

These look absolutely incredible. Will they eventually be converted for use in Poser, as was done with your Dystopia cityscape?

Moe, this is wonderful!

Looks great Moebius. Will this be in the MP soon?

Hey M, you are just TOOOOO cool! That looks so good - as your stuff always does. :] Fish

Looking good Moe! Maybe try it with different textures too. Metallic, Stone, Ceramic...

Thanks! Glad you all like it so far. Yes, Little_Dragon, I am hoping that I will be able to figure out the conversion process myself, or get a partner to help me getting it done. Have you tested the "Antares" set that billy-home and I did? RAMNIMUS, I wish I could answer that, but I have problems opening up shop here on Rosity because of where I am located (Thailand). No paypal and it costs me too much to have a check sent. Fillingim... aaaggghhh! get out of my head... lol... you're reading my mind. Good call. I'm going to post the next wip with an alternative texture pack, the "massacre texture pack" - blaster burned and bloodstained. :o) Cheers! - M

Hi, M! Well, SHIT! Thailand, huh? OK, OK, (in my best Joe Peschi voice)...try the phonetics out: "Sa wa dee, crop" "Suh bye dee my?" Hehe, not gonna search for Thai characters. Besides, I only took one college course in actual writing. But, when I was stationed in NORTHERN Thailand in, hmmmmm, military intel work, I was the unit translator. So, you must be "posted" there or something, right? I always wondered why you didn't sell your stuff. It'd surely fetch some money! You must have friends you have made and could trust to "broker" it for you and send you your part. I've worked with the Antares series a bit. The pieces "couple" together very well when loaded. The lights seem a bit dark but can be tinkered with. Only one weird thing, though...one of the sections (can't remember which) makes the default window drop to 500 x 500. Wonder why that is. As to the Antares itself, I have been dreaming of using it as a skeleton to my website (I plan on...hehe). Where I can overlay some Flash code/animation and make a really nice intro. Back to the earlier topic, though. And I KNOW I am being forward here...but it's just offered as a suggestion for a person who does some damn nice work and should get some payment for it. IF you don't already have someone whom you can "work" with to be a "front" for your products, give me a "call". I'm about as honest a person as you could find to work with. I'd take a fair cut for my front end stuff and get an international check to you once a month. Or, Wells Fargo (they suck so much down, though). I'm sure there is a bank in Atlanta if you needed the check cut in Baht. I only mention this because you should get something for your excellent work. If not me, talk to the other friends you have made. I guess I should shut up now. And close with another phonetic: "Pope gun my". PS: For the curious reading this thread, I offer a small translation from above... "Sa wa dee, crop" (Hello, sir) "Suh bye dee my?" (You're doing well?) "Pope gun my". (Meet each other new = 'See you later')

LOL!!! "Sawatdee, khrap khun ChuckEvans. Sabai dee mai? Kohrthot, khrap, poum mai chai kohn thai na, khrap. Poum kohn fahrang tahmahda duay. Tahmngarn tee prahtet Thai, prahman baet pe tee laew, khrap. Tee kohn silipa grajok" Translation - "Hey, ChuckEvans. How ya doing? Sorry, bud, but I'm not a Thai person either, just another foreigner. Working here in Thailand for about 8 years now, with a glass artist". Thank you very much for the extremely generous offer. Just stepped out of Rosity's main chat (which is a favorite stomping ground of mine) and I may have just found a partner. Will keep you posted on how it turns out, and definitely keep you in mind if it don't. :o) Glad you've got some mileage out of the "Antares"... just curious, but have you seen my WIP's of the "Argo"? Back to modeling for me. - "pop gan mai, yindee duay, khrap". - M

If Lightwave has scaling I can probably talk you though converting it yourself. I'm working something that's pretty similar. I'm making floors, walls, doors, windows, pipes, etc.

ChuckEvans posted Mon, 02 September 2002 at 12:24 PM

"baet pe tee laew"... Grin...yep, adding the "laew" to show past tense...hehe. Forgetting everything I used to know. But I surprise people sometimes when overhear Thai and walk up to them and ask them if they are Thai. Wish I could do the same with one of the MANY Chinese dialects. As dialects go, I spoke more of a Northern (read: Lao) tongue. Like Northerners and Southerners in the US...hehe. Of course, being 20 "clicks" from Laos had an effect, I'm sure. I love the language...it's easy to learn to speak, but as others told me, I didn't speak "high Thai". Like in "Goonthep". I sincerely DO hope you find a way to work with someone to get some repayment. You deserve it. I'll post this bit of info that I got from a nameless broker one day: "Well, I wouldn't say I'm the average vendor, so don't take it as a rule of thumb, but at my best, I was getting about $10,000 per month." (I was nosey and this person answered me.) So, if you can do 20% that well, you should find someone! I'll have to search for Argo. But when I saw the corridor you were working on, I wondered if THAT would be a better "guide" for my web intro. Meaning I could overlay some flashes of light disappearing down the corridor to "lead" the way in to the site. Of course, it has much more uses just in Poser! Thanks for the reply (and the indication my Thai and become forgotten...hehe)

Very cool stuff, Grey_cat!!! Seriously... I was too scared to start on the series I had planned for some starship interiors, so I decided to tackle something simpler. Your interiors are reminiscent of a submarine, which is very cool - a really flexible and very intelligent design. I specially like how you've "hardened" the portal edges by introducing a wider threshold/jamb on the top and bottom of the doors. Lots of very nice detailing on your work. :o) I've been able to figure out how to convert from LW to Poser, did one simple block. Hated doing it. I never realized that I had a frustration level before attempting this. It's a discipline unto itself. I hope I never have to go through the trauma of conversion again... hehehehe. Thanks for posting your stuff for me to have a quick peek. Cheers! - M :o)

It should'nt be that hard, a few simple steps. Are you sure you're doing it the right way?

Moebius87 posted Mon, 02 September 2002 at 1:31 PM

Hi Grey_cat, I've been modeling only with LW in mind, which supports variable smoothing angles (no need to split vertices/edges) and it also supports single polygons with up to 1024 points (not limited to 4-point polys with a preference for 3-point polygons). I'm sure MAYA, C4D, MAX and the other high end modeling programs do something similar (don't really know, sorry). It has been very tedious to go back and "de-optimize" an efficient mesh and break it apart to deal with these Poser idiosyncracies. A pre-conversion mesh in LW weighing in at around 3,000 polygons usually bloats to about 8,000 polygons post conversion. I guess I just have to unlearn some old modeling habits to make the conversion process smoother. Such is the nature of the beast, I guess. :o) - M
