Curious Labs and Eon are being very Discreet? Hmm. How absolutely Maxon. I feel like Hash just thinking about it. I really need to learn to Corel my emotions better. :-) Anthony H. PS - I have no idea. You should ask e-on about this.

I did it and the answer was "no idea" !!! I like this kind of answer. Any idea about shipment in europe for P5 ? Have fun Laurent

Anthony, that was -so- bad of you. Accurate, but so bad. :P And I guess I'll be one of those finding out as soon as my P5 gets here...

I read somewhere that e-on licensed part of Poser 4 and put it into Vue in order to get pz3 file import working. Since neither side knows about P5, I'd guess e-on did not do the same with P5. Also, Vue looks for "poser.exe" and a valid poser serial number when you install it. So you'd probably at least have to keep P4 on your machine (since P5 won't come with a serial number--don't know about the exe). I'll take a big, fat guess that if the P5 file will load into Poser 4, it will load in Vue. If it won't load into P4, it won't load into Vue. But I could be wrong.

If your upgrading to P5, you shouldn't have a problem. Since you can still have a copy of P4 on your machine. Kupa said so! :) Vue4 can still use P4's engine to import PZ3 files. And I beleave they said that there was no change in the PZ3 file in P5.

I hope jackson & sirkrite are correct; I would be mightily pissed if they launched anything but a free patch for Vue, as I bought Mover4 just before I heard about the september launch of poser 5! I do have a slight concern though; it is probably a dumb question; but I don't know about these things! if there is no change in the pz3 file in poser 5, where is the information for the new hair settings etc stored? or is there a pz5 file and a save as option if you haven't used fancy features? Steve :o)

sirkrite posted Sun, 08 September 2002 at 9:04 AM

Ahh! This is where it gets sticky. P5 is backwards compatible with P4, P4 is not forwards compatible with all P5 features. You may be able to open a P5 PZ3 file in P4. But! (There's that word!) P4 wouldn't be able to use the Dynamic clothes or the strand hair most likely.

and once again, who is the looser ? The consumer !!!! Thanks too much !

Youre not losing anything, just not gaining anything.

This is one of the reasons why I didn't buy Mover. It's advertisements made no mention of P5 compatibility although the "end-of-summer" ship date had already been announced. Question is, will P5 characters saved with the new features import with static hair and clothes...or bald and naked?

sirkrite posted Sun, 08 September 2002 at 5:12 PM

Bald yes! The clothes, that's another storie. They should be there, but they won't be dynamic anymore. Which is fine for none animated pictures.

I read an article in Computer Arts Interactive Magazine August 2002 issue that e-on and Curious Labs were teaming up to offer the ability to host Poser animated scenes within Vue 5. In other words, you could create an animated scene with Poser, Save it as a PZ3 file, load it into Vue and Export the animation with the terrain of your choice directly from Vue. Sounds pretty cool.

Man, I hope that's true; if they're "teaming up" for Vue 5, then Poser 5 compatibility must be coming with it, even for stills.

Tell me about it. Vue 5. If it had the dynamic hair support, cloth support, and shader support..... [droooooooolll]
