For those of you who have installed Poser 5 already, how did it go? Did it unlock easily? If you were upgrading did it update Poser 4 to Poser 5 or did you end up with the old and new versions on your drive? Any advise, mine came today.

SMooooooooooooooooooooth, I upgraded from P4, but I have split drive so P5 has its own drive... P4 on C: I am not ready to start using P5... It has so much to play with! I am playing with the Hair as I type... so much new stuff to learn... it is GREAT :) Niles

No problems at all. If you read the manual it is very easy to use. Did my first hair piece in about 5 minutes. I bought the upgrade but did a separate install on another drive. Great thing about it is I can access my Poser4 and ProPack runtime folders. Ron

Let me ask someone, I want to keep Poser 4 separate from Poser 5 can I do that on one hard drive? Sharen

Sharen: Yes, just don't install them into the same directory. By default P5 will install into C:Program FilesCurious LabsPoser 5 -Ry

So it will be only separated into 2 groups, Poser 4 and Poser 5, I wonder if they will conflict being so close to each other? Sharen

Should I have it install in like c:ProgramFilesPoser 5, would that work better?

Install went through with no problems. I kept my Poser 4 install on C drive. Installed Poser 5 on my D drive since C drive is getting crowded. Now off to read the manual. Lots to learn! Not sure who the default guy is, but he has lots of dials and can take the new dynamic hair. I'll try to post a picture later today. Have a bit of a learing curve ahead. Peggy

Bleh! Poor Default Guy finally got his walking papers :( LOL

Installation was fine. (I was lazy and installed over P4.) Registration was fine. (I turned off Zone Alarm, just in case.) Reboot went fine. I couldn't load the program! It died every time on ffms.arp. I renamed the file to _ffms.arp and renamed ffms.rsr to _ffms.rsr and the program loaded properly. It even loaded _ffms.arp. (Don't ask me, I just work here.) I didn't have anyone show up for the default. I prefer it that way, anyway. (I think it read my defaults from P4.) Yep, I'm the mutant renegade here.

Worked fine, except for one texture TIF that somehow didn't copy correctly according to the Installer.... but that didn't stop the program from starting and registering straightforwardly. (My CD drive is on its last legs, giving occasional glitches, so that may account for the missed file.)

You do not have to reinstall them in 5. You can link to your Poser4 or ProPack runtime folder. Ron

Registration failed on me.....all went well except that. Sharen

I seem to be having difficuly loading certain figures from my Poser 4 Runtime such as Vicky -- other figures load fine. So far all of the props that I've loaded seem to be doing okay - - - Okay it seems to work okay now. I shut down Poser 5 and now it seems to access everything fine. It musta gotten confused and needed a restart after setting it to access the P4 Runtime . . . Registration went fine for me BTW

I had no problems with a new full install next to my Poser 4 installation on my applications drive F:. On-line registration was painless and quick - just a couple of seconds not including my typing. The only clear problem I had was no document window in the Pose Room. I chose Start in factory state and restarted Poser and the window appeared. It stayed visible even after changing preferences back to start in preferred state. It does appear to slow down when I open the Library tab, with the cursor staying as an houglass even while it appears to be active. I also suspect there are some problems with several applications running but I haven't done enough to test this. Everything I've tried to do in Poser works, although this has not been any exhaustive stuff. XP, 1.8GHz, 512 MB, 1600x1200 screen
