here is a survey I would like to post twice, one now & then again in a few weeks after everyone has gained more experience with it. please list system specs in top line (chip, memory, OS) give items a rating 1-10, 10 being the best. respond n/a if you haven't gotten that far yet. 1. ease of security code install 2. ease of face room 3. ease of hair creation (new styles) 4. overall render speed (figure in complexity of image) 5. overall ease of user interface 6. quaility of P4 renders 7. quaility of firefly renders 8. program stability multiple choice section 1. Judy is... a. worse then posette b. better than posette, but worse than Vicky 1 c. better than Vicky 1 d. worse that posette but has more potential e. worse than vicky 1 but has more potential 2. Don is... a. worse then dork b. better than dork, but worse than Mike 1 c. better than Mike 1 d. worse that dork but has more potential e. worse than Mike 1 but has more potential 3. I would rate the value of P5 as.. a. I want a refund b. I paid to much c. I wish I had waited d. just right, worth every penny e. I would have paid more

  1. ease of security code install----PERFECTLY SMOOTH 2. ease of face room----WELL DONE, BUT RANDOM FACES SEEM TO BE MORE MALE ORIENTED AND IT DOESN'T LET YOU RANDOM THE TEXTURE WITHOUT RANDOMING THE MORPH (I'M DISAPPOINTED IN THAT) 3. ease of hair creation (new styles)----VERY EASY, BUT ONE OF THE HAIR ONES SHOWS UP ON JUDY'S BUTT INSTEAD OF HER HEAD AND I HAVE TO TRANS Y IT. 4. overall render speed (figure in complexity of image)--I'M HAPPY. BETTER QUALITY AT ABOUT THE SAME SPEED 5. overall ease of user interface --- OK FOR ME. LOTS MORE TO LEARN AND GET USED TO. TOO BAD THE BREAST MORPHS AREN'T THE SAME RIGHT TO LEFT CUZ INSTEAD OF RUNNING DOWN THE SLIDER LIST I'LL HAVE TO WRITE IT DOWN AND GO THROUGH SOME MONKEY MOTIONS TO MATCH BOTH THE SAME. 6. quaility of P4 renders - WHO CARES 7. quaility of firefly renders -- EXCELLANT, DEFINITE IMPROVEMENT 8. program stability --- WORKS FINE FOR ME AFTER A COUPLE OF REBOOTS. YOUR MULTIPLE CHOICE: 1. C 2. CAN'T SAY CUZ I DON'T HAVE MIKE, BUT MUCH BETTER THAN THE DORK. 3. D

Athlon 1.4 Ghz, 1GB ram, Win XP Pro 1. ease of security code install 5 - Web didn't work, I had to use email, but the reply was fast. 2. ease of face room 7 - not too hard, but not as flexible as I expected either. 3. ease of hair creation (new styles) n/a 4. overall render speed 8 - pretty fast so far, but crashes a lot at render. 5. overall ease of user interface 3 - It's not that it's hard, but it's not user-friendly. For instance there is no earthly reason for material nodes to use terms like Ka, Kd and Ks. It should use WORDS, and leave the code behind the scenes. It's also still completely impossible to customize. 6. quaility of P4 renders n/a 7. quaility of firefly renders 6 - Heaps better than P4, but there are some issues. Many texture maps will need to be reworked because in firefly they show white seams. 8. program stability 2 :) 1. Judy is... b. better than posette, but worse than Vicky 1 2. Don is... b. better than dork, but worse than Mike 1 3. I would rate the value of P5 as.. d. just right, worth every penny

  1. ease of security code install -- 5 Two tries, Annoying for a dyslexic person 2. ease of face room -- 5 Easy, expected a lot more flexbility 3. ease of hair creation (new styles) -- 7 Easy to style, Dynamics, jury still out 4. overall render speed (figure in complexity of image) -- 2 Dog Slow 5. overall ease of user interface -- 7 Good, Wish UI dots set Dials pallet 6. quaility of P4 renders -- 8 Same as always, Shader trees are cool 7. quaility of firefly renders -- 2 Way dissapointed 8. program stability -- 3 Fair 1. Judy is... b. better than posette, but worse than Vicky 1 2. Don is... b. better than dork, but worse than Mike 1 (Woody is better than Dork!) 3. I would rate the value of P5 as.. d. just right, worth every penny You left out the best thing, The thing that really works great, Dynamic cloth! Without that P5 would be a bust.

Sony VAIO laptop, 1.2Ghz Athlon, 512M RAM, Poser installed on 16G Drive D (Windows and Office on Drive C) give items a rating 1-10, 10 being the best. respond n/a if you haven't gotten that far yet. 1. ease of security code install 10: very easy process 2. ease of face room 8: seems easy to use, but it will take practice to get good results 3. ease of hair creation (new styles) 5: after a few minutes, I couldn't get ANY hair to grow! 4. overall render speed (figure in complexity of image) 6: the render time will be longer because of the new features, but it's still slower than the (far superior) render-engine in Lightwave 5. overall ease of user interface 8: about the same as Poser 4 (for good or bad) 6. quaility of P4 renders 10: about the same as P4 (for good or bad) 7. quaility of firefly renders 8: a little better than P4, but I haven't fully tested everything yet 8. program stability 10+: after all the switching to rooms and rendering and switching characters and rendering and loading... never crashed or locked up once. multiple choice section 1. Judy is... b. better than posette, but worse than Vicky 1 she is definitely different, but I am a little disappointed that she doesn't come with tons of body morph targets like Vicky 2 2. Don is... b. better than dork, but worse than Mike 1 same as above- a little "odd" looking, but I wish he has morphs also 3. I would rate the value of P5 as.. d. just right, worth every penny And, as a merhcant selling Poser items, this could be a tax-deduction againt my income! Here's the big question- will the 3D-graphics community view Poser 5 as a "professional tool" or will it still be seen as a "toy"? --John
