Subject: P5 Export To Flash... Is It Supposed To Be This Slow?

This is an honest question and not some backhanded slam. I have never really played with the flash format that much. I am currently testing an export to the flash format and it is incredibly slow compared to previous exports to avi. Presently, I am testing with a simple 85 frame animation. It has been going on for almost 17-18 minutes or so. I know it is still working because the itty-bitty "Exporting Flash... " box has an itty-bitty blue line that keeps moving every once in awhile. Seriously, I have no idea as to what the speed should be. Anyone with a bit more flash experience able to give me a heads-up? Or, with a glass of gin in my hand, a heads-back? So far, though, it seems to be going as SMOOTHLY as my registration, just not as fast. ;-) casamerica

I have not played around with Flash export that much, since it does not export in 32 bit color. I checked with CL, and they told me that P5 does not export in 32 bit color either. If you find out differently, please let me know.

I use Wildform Flix (1.0 free on Computer Arts August 2002 CD) to turn an AVI into Flash.

I use Wildform Flix (1.0 free on Computer Arts August 2002 CD) to turn an AVI into Flash.<<< I may have to look into such a beast if I decide to do much work in the Flash format. 85 frame Flash animation took 2hours and 49 minutes. Now, like I said, I know virtually nil about the the Flash format so it could very well have been the settings I tried: 128 colors, Overlap Colors, Draw Outlines, Draw Inner Lines. The reason I asked is that I had just completed the same scene in a standard avi animation in something like 12 minutes. I guess I don't understand the huge disparity in the times. Again, this could very well be my ignorance of what goes into a Flash animation. That is why I am asking. casamerica
