is it possible to remove the chain break on the hip? if not, why not.

no. um... didn't the chain break section in the manual go over this? i think it is basically because the hip is the root body part.

I figured there might be a workaround. if the manual was the final word on all things poser that would be kinda sucky.

Pardon me for asking, but why do you want to remove the chain break on the hip. If I understand it right chain break "off" means that moving a body part can also move its parent. The parent of hip is BODY, but I wonder why you would want moving the hip to also move the BODY.
