I use World Construction Set and work and stumbled on this on their mailing list at yahoo. Hope it might save some of you some money.. from the list: "I've just been sent an invoice for 95 ($150) by Fedex which is apparently import duty on my free WCS6 update. God I hate the British Government!!! sorry... I just had to get that off my chest. It's the same in Holland too... For us as a software reseller, it's a very big problem... There is something you can do about it though (at least in Holland we can, but I suppose the rules in the UK are more or less similar): The courier is only allowed to charge import taxes over the physical goods inside the package. A cd, a hardware key, a manual and some candy... not the software license! The total value of these physical goods is maybe $30 alltogehter, so import duty over that is a few $. As long as the customs invoice that was sent with the package lists these things separately, you can file a complaint and ask for a recalculation. We've had this problem many times before and it has taken us a long time to actually get that recalculation through, but it worked. Obviously, couriers are not exactly willing to admit this..." Sorry if this is considered off-topic
